Plex for Samsung Network Connection Lost error

Any updates on this? My 2018 Q6F still having this problem even with the newest firmware from December

I think I fixed my problem… turned out my router (Netgear r9000) was resetting its Wi-Fi every 20 minutes or so. I could see it under advanced, show statistics. The uptime on the wireless was always much lower than the routers uptime. I complained to netgear and was able to get a beta firmware which fixed the uptime and Wi-Fi rebooting issue.

The only way I was able to resolve this issue was by purchasing my own router, which gave me improved performance over the one I received from my ISP. I think the issue may have had something to do with the MTU settings of the router or bandwidth management of the router and since purchasing a new router I have not had this issue at all. It seems to be some type of issue between the Plex App and the router. Though I did experience some issues with other apps which required constant internet connections like the Twitch App.

Same here. New Q65FN82 with plex network errors. Roku on same tv and same network switch no problems. Wired connections. No wireless. Need to remove roku, so need plex on tv working.

Stilll experiencing this issue… Any resolution in sight?

I’ve got the Samsung Q9 hardwired to my unifi switch. I also have a older 42inch (1year old) 4k Samsung tv in the kitchen. Both have Plex and the older TV is faultless. The only time the issue happens with my Q9 is when I turn if off and back on again. When I load Plex its got the message at the top of the screen and it wont go away. Both TV’s running the same version of Plex, newer TV is running Tizen 4 whereas the older TV has version 3. That seems to be the only difference.

I also have Samsung Q9 with network cable and same issue. Have to press and hold the back button for plex to close then when I go back into it it works normally without the message - really annoying…

I think I’ve possibly found the solution. Try in Settings/General/Network/Expert Settings/ disabling IP6. Restart TV… Let me know if it works for you.
IP6 is a newer type of network addressing when not used it will fall back to IP4 which is just as efficient but more tried and tested…

I’ve already got IP6 disabled so must be something else :frowning:

Sorry seemed to be working but not now ;-(

same issue here Qled QE55Q9FN. A black rectangle on the top, error written in white.
It only happens with Plex, so it must be related to something Plex is doing with the TV network API.

Since last TV firmware update 1202 it is worse. Previoulsy I could close and restart Plex. Now the error message locks Plex.
The only workaround for me is to go to Apps, then settings, then select Plex icon and reinstall Plex from the menu. It takes a few seconds and Plex starts normally again, until the next TV stanby.
A pain…

Plex v 3.84.2. IP V6 disabled. One Plex media server on my network, always available. TV connected by cable.

Same issue here… Also an Qled but QE65Q9FN instead here.

I also get random lags in the app trying to play some shows… Like 4K is no issue, but some Shows lags random, but playing via Chromecast, PC or PS4 show no lag.

Very strange.

QE65Q9FN here too, same issue as all of you.

TV connected to ASUS RT-AC88U via Ethernet.

Plex loads but cannot select anything as it says network disconnected. Load up TV network settings and all is fine, can stream from other apps no problem.

Frustrating update.

Personally just upgraded from a KS9000, Plex was running great on that with the same LAN setup.

Thought I’d contribute my experience here too. I’ve got Serviio and Plex running alongside. As a long time Serviio user, I’m dipping into Plex as it’s aesthetically more pleasing.

I have a bunch of TV’s and smart devices all streaming from a dedicated media server. I have a Samsung UE26EH4500 and a Samsung UE43J5500 and an LG 43UH620V-ZA all regularly using Serviio to stream via DLNA. LG and the J5500 are connected via wired Cat5e, whilst the H4500 is 2.4Ghz Wireless. All have no issues playing Serviio movies via DLNA.

I installed Plex on my media server, got it to access my library and then deployed the app to the TV’s above. LG is fine but the two Samsung devices display the "Network Error; " message occasionally, usually when I’ transitioning screens or drilling into series or collections. To clarify this doesn’t stop me playing any of the videos, and in the brief 10min test I did last night, it doesn’t show up during the playback, just during the menu system.

This is beyond annoying as it ruins the only real reason for me to use this over Serviio.

One of the Sammies has the latest Firmware, one does not. This definitely seems to be an issue with the Samsung Plex app.

Will this show up in any logs server side to suggest what is actually happening? There’s surely a network hiccup or timeout going on, or warning message issue?

I will add that I have seen this before when attempting to run Twitch (when they had an app). I would get a ā€œNetwork Interruptedā€ message on the screen. The stream would continue until I addressed the message on the screen at which point the stream would fail. This was on the Samsungs too!

One more quick update as I’ve been playing with this this morning. I made a couple of changes.

  • I set the preferred network interface to the exact interface of my NIC on my MEdia Server rather than ā€œanyā€
  • I enabled IPv6 (just because…)

Just fired up one of my troublesome Samsung TVs and managed to jump around the menu and playback some video without the error appearing. So, it’s possible the TV was attempting to connect with IPv6 as well hence the error (didn’t have verbose logging on so can’t check without revisiting) or the TV was attempting to use multiple interfaces to interact with the Plex server on my box. Or, third option, it’s none of the above and it’s just working currently unrelated to any change I made.

Who knows…let me know if the above works for anybody else - keen to nail this down.

My symptoms seem to be slightly different:

  • QE55Q9FN
  • wired Ethernet

Every time I turn on the TV and launch the Plex app, it comes up with ā€œNetwork Connection Lostā€ even though, the app is actually fine (I can browse around etc without any problem, but the overlay with the error message will not go away!

Once I force close the app (holding the back button), and re-open it, it is fine.

It feels like the app is somehow starting with the TV and doing that too soon (before the TV has time to get the network interface up) and then getting stuck with that error.

Same here on my QN65Q75FN. But PLEX freezes forcing me to reinstall the app by holding down while pushing the PLEX app in the uninstalled APP lists. Then it quickly reinstalls and everything is fine. Until the TV is shut off. Then the problem is back. I was going to re-install the Samsung PLEX APP but that seems pointless according to this thread.

Thanks Steltek! you save my day.
I did not know that a long press on the Back Button is a force close of an App.
Force close Plex brings back to smart hub. Then simply relaunch Plex and it works.

This is a much faster workaround than reinstall the app each time.

one more thing… later today PLEX was updated to version 3.90.2 on my TV and the network connection problem is gone

I’ve had the same issue at a client install where all the TV’ s are Samsung (8 of them) and they all have the Network Lock-Up / Re-Install Issue. I’ll try the update as soon as possible and hopefully that will take care of it. Thanks
