oops I was too fast. The network issue is back again today even with latest Plex version.
Long press the back button and launch Plex again is the easiest work around.
Plex 3.90.2 release notes mention a fix for a “Improved network connect and disconnect handling” Obviously, there is more work to be done.
Same situation with my Samsung 2017 QLED TV. The problem is simple to state. If you turn the TV on, going to PLEX will give you the network error connection failure. Then you force quit it by holding the back button down for a second or so. Then PLEX starts normally. You can quit PLEX and then reopen it later and no error. You could leave the TV on for a week and have no issues with PLEX. But if you turn the TV off, you will run into the network problem again when the TV is powered on… And this is on the latest version 3.90.2.
Hi all,
first of all, thanks for this web and the help that offers. I hope that here I can find the solution to my headache!!
This is my situation and my questions:
1.- HTPC i7+Nvidia GTX 1070 with PMS and 6 HDD with a lot of multimedia
2.- Samsung Q9FN with PMP App
3.- Both connected with HDMI 2.0 between them
4.- Both connected to my Ethernet
The first question/doubt is:
Video from PMS on the PC goes to the PMP on TV via HDMI or goes from the PC to the router and then from the router to the TV via Ethernet? That is, when the PC is connected to the TV via HDMI, is this valid for something?
The second doubt that is my very important problema:
Every time I turn OFF my HTPC, when I turn it ON again and I try to acces the PMP in TV that is not posible.
Sometimes appears this message: “Lost Network connection. Check the network connection of this device” and other times nothing happens, simply the application is “frozen”.
To solve this, every time I have to reinstall the App PMP in the TV.

If you use the PLEX App on the TV, the media is streamed via ethernet from PC to TV , decoded by the PLEX app on the TV and displayed. Nothing goes via HDMI.
If you chose to use the PLEX player on your HTPC, (making your htpc both server and client) then PLEX player (PMP) on the HTPC decodes and displays via HDMI on the TV.

the point of the discussion is that you don’t need to reinstall the PLEX app on the TV each time. Simply long press on the back button will force close the PLEX App on TV and then you can relaunch it without the network lost problem. This is an acceptable workaround in my opinion.
davidbliser_me_com perfectly summarizes the issue.
Previously encountered the persistent “Network Connection Lost” dialog. I adopted the habit of killing the app as soon as the dialog appeared so I could restart it without the error. My Tizen 4.0 TV updated to 3.92.3 and I continued this behavior since the dialog still appears. I thought that the error persisted. I got distracted while opening the app only to discover that the dialog appears as the app opens but immediately disappears and everything behaves properly (well, almost, but that’s another ticket.) I guess it makes sense because, technically, the connection is lost until it is re-established.
