Plex for Samsung Network Connection Lost error

Samsung UN55MU850DFXZA Firmware Version: 1230.0
Plex for Samsung 3.3.4
Tizen 3.0
Plex Media Server 1.13.2.5154

When attempting to use Plex on my Samsung TV I am continuously receiving an error that says Network Connection Lost. This error stalls my access for about a second and goes away before coming back approximately 5-15 seconds later. This happens continuously, whether or not I am logged into Plex, accessing the Media Server, or watching a film. Any help with this issue would be great appreciated.

Samsung or Plex fault?

Netflix, Youtube, … every other Internet-Streaming working

Same issue here

there is another topic.

I hope this is getting fixed soon

Since I’m not allowed to copy/paste the answer from my topic, go check out my reply on how I’ve fixed my tv. [BUG] Plex for Tizen just stops playing

As far as I can tell, this is an issue with Samsung’s TV firmware. The updates however, are not fixing the problem for me. I still experience issues when trying to make use of a consistent internet connection. Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, other streaming services do not seem to require the constant connection to a server that Plex does, which is causing constant buffering both when playing media and when idling in the menus. This lack of a consistent connection is causing my media to be transcoded and, I believe, only expanding the issue. I will likely just purchase a Roku 4K device to stream from my plex server and establish a clear, direct connection.

I have the same problem, except that the movie plays fine. The only issue (and its a big issue) is that the error message that says the network connection is lost stays on the screen permanently. It doesn’t do it for Netflix, Amazon, Hulu or HBO apps, only on Plex, but it is a Samsung tv error and not a Plex error. Plex on my XBox or FireTV stick are fine, as well as on my old Samsung television. Its just the new QLED TV that’s doing it.

Yeah I’m seeing this on my new Q9F. Plex plays fine but the network error stays on screen all the time.

And oddly enough I just seem to have fixed my issue.

I had three plex servers on my network. One on my NAS, one on an older computer, and one on a newer computer. I decided to finally clean things up and deleted the Plex server on the NAS, and disabled the one on the older computer. Shortly after this, I started seeing the Network Connection business.

I restarted the server on the older computer (so now I have two instances running) and the Network Connection error was no longer visible. I disabled the server on the older computer again, and it still isn’t visible. Everything seems to be operating normally now.

So, make of that what you will.

indeed it is.

I am having the same issue. How can this be a Samsung issue when the Plex app is the only app to display the issue? Video plays fine with so skipped frames or lag, just a constant warning at the top of the screen making it very distracting to watch.

This happens to me. When I close the app (hold the back button) and restart plex it is gone, but during a movie it will pop up a few times, but goes away after 5-10 seconds. Video never stops, or lags. Wireless speeds to my tv are consistently 220Mb/s. I don’t use wired because of the speed limitation. Apple TV plex app doesn’t do this, nor does the Xbox app. All wireless.

Yep, it is there and it’s very annoying. I do not think it has anything to do with samsung, since it’s the only app displaying this behaviour. I have to exit the app and re enter it every time, because it dims the screen and its unwatchable.
Please address the issue, thank you!

Yes. Even if there is a brief loss in connectivity, can we delay the error message from showing up? I never see a hiccup in my video, so maybe a delay for it to check network again, could prevent the message from popping up. Or just get rid of it altogether, this was never there on the old version.

I suspect that there is more than one source of this error. It certainly is not a Samsung issue in all cases, such as mine. That’s not to say there are no Samsung conditions that lead to the same symptoms, however.

did you try any other DLNA app, or you are just comparing to netflix/youtube?

I am not using any other DLNA app. Obviously vest invested in the Plex platform. That being said, the error only happens in Plex and seems to have no baring on actual connectivity status as the app operates as you would expect behind the error. My server is setup on a giga-bit LAN and wired directly to the TV. The only way to remove the black bar is to hard re-start Plex as it will not disappear on its own during any action in the app.

Blockquote did you try any other DLNA app, or you are just comparing to netflix/youtube?

This is clearly not an issue with DLNA apps, at least not in all circumstance.

Ya, FWIW I have never seen this message since the new version of the plex app for Tizen. Tv firmware hasn’t changed. I do use DLNA from time to time never see any issues, nor do I see any with YouTube or Netflix apps.

It was in my case, that’s why I was asking and the fix I found worked for others users as well.

sorry if it doesn’t help you.

Thanks little bro. Samsung did release new firmware yesterday for my tv so I will try that and keep an eye on it.
