Since a while something strange happens repeatedly. I can watch shows using the Plex Player until a certain moment when the whole TV set hangs and rebooting (long press power) is the only option. After the restart, Plex won’t start - it shows a button to relink but that results in an error page. It’s as if it cannot retrieve the link code, but this does not seem to be the certificate error as at some point in time (minutes, hours) a code is shown and I can link the TV player to my account. I then need to reenter all player settings.
I found out that I am then using the Plex Player version which is in Samsungs App store (5.10.x). The next time I turn on the TV the Player app is updated to the latest (5.29.1) version. The next time I get to choose the “new layout”. Then after a few usages the whole circus rebegins: hang while viewing, reboot, old version.
This is getting a bit irritating… This is on a Samsung UE32K5600 tv… I tried to set the app store to not update Plex, but that is futile. It seems to push the upgrade through the app.
I am having a similar (but not exactly the same) issue on my Samsung dumb TV. My plex client just forgets everything and I have to re-link and put all the settings back in again. This has happened about 6 times in the last 2 weeks. Yes… it is a bit of a PITA and it has only been happening with the “new layout/themes” version.
@BradGrove - exactly that. With the additional problem that, after forgetting everything, it is unable to link for a while. It (very) briefly shows the ‘plex.tv/link’ screen, but without a code and then immediately falls through to an error page. The coloring of the page before that link page gives a hint: if the button is yellow then the next page will result in error. If it is graywhite then it succeeds.
Yep that is pretty much it… I have waited before jumping straight on to these forums hoping that it was a temporary glitch at my end. Why is nobody else talking about this?! We can’t be the only two experiencing this issue.
Same problem with Samsung UE43AU9070. Perhaps the problem lies in the fact that on the samsung store there is the version updated to April 5.10
There is also the problem of API now and I don’t connect even for the code.
