Hi, i have re-started using plex on my Synology box. Have gone to add a channel and there isn’t a plex folder or share on my Synology NAS (I may have deleted it previously when i wasn’t using Plex).
I also get an error “The channel directory is unavailable.” when I try to add a channel (home > channels > install channels) via a browser window.
Also, going settings > server gives a “Server settings are unavailable.” message.
Is it simple to re-add the folder (if that indeed is the issue) or maybe a fresh install of Plex is in order?

By default, the Plex share is hidden from File Station (Synology’s rules)
Go to Control Panel - Shared Folders
Edit the Plex share.
Add your username as R/W permission
Save the changes
If Server settings are unavailable, PMS is not recognizing you as the owner.
- Are you both on the same subnet?
- Is it and your browser both signed in as the same Plex.tv account ?
Adding a plug-in is easy to put into position however, PMS does not run as a privileged user on Synology.
After putting the files into position, you must SSH into the Synology as admin, sudo -su root to elevate to root privileges, and assign user plex as the owner of the files in those plug-in(s).
Presuming your Plex share is on /volume1 (default), you can use the following. If on another volume, please adjust accordingly.
chown -R plex:users "/volume1/ Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-ins"
Restart PMS and it will now find the plug-ins

This worked for me as well. I wonder if this should be made the default for users moving from other platforms to Synology.
