I have a collection of about 3,000 movies stored on a Synology NAS, and I run the Plex Server on a Mac.
Today I noticed that Plex has “lost” several hundred of my carefully-curated custom Poster art, replacing them with art pulled from online metadata. However, if I go into Edit the individual title and choose “Poster”, my custom art is still available as the first choice—but it would be very time-consuming to re-link several hundred titles one at a time.
• I’ve made NO changes to my Plex server settings for years.
• Every movie title I have uses standard naming convention; I use “folder.jpg” for my custom art in every movie’s folder.
• I DO have both “Use local assets” and “Prefer local metadata” checked in Settings > Manage > Library > Advanced.
I don’t know how long ago this happened—not more than a few days (perhaps a week at the most), but I just noticed it today. Although I have not changed any Plex settings, I DID upgrade to macOS Tahoe today.
I’d like to know how this happened, how to prevent it from happening again, and how I can fix it without having to manually re-link every individual title to its correct poster art.
