Plex has ONE job. to play media. yet it's a F'n crap shoot if it'll do that

Geniuses, for future knowledge if you’re going to continue to think you’re qualified to provide support. Anytime someone says they’ve done an update and start to experience issues that basic troubleshooting doesn’t solve, before reaching for claims of knowing what the issue is strictly based on your ignorance. The best thing to do as, new updates may have some bugs that could appear only in certain situations, on certain hardware. You may want to suggest rolling back to the last known working version and using backups as anytime you make a change you should back yo ■■■■ up. And report the bug as it may be useful for patches if enough people continue to have the same issue… Always better than providing ignorance as advise. Just saying.

Oh, and arrogant short bus riding dumbass, I have same permissions, same codecs, same network, same host server, earlier version of Plex. Issue resolved. Obama Out - GIPHY Clips

I’m going to try this one more time because i’m a masochist.

Your 33% issue and clients not connecting to plex properly are an issue with the docker configuration. Docker does its own networking thing, and the 172.16 is a docker IP. Whatever command you ran for creating the docker included things like a port map, to map the port from your 10.0.0.0/24 network to your dockers 172.16 etc. If you do this, it’ll fix some of your issues.

You are also having issues with permissions on the transcode folder plex needs. Plex (and Emby) will transcode media for a lot of reasons. For example, lets say you have something encoded using FLAC, or Opus - and the client doesn’t support that, it’ll transcode, even if you have it set to direct play. Because it HAS to, to play the file. It’s not bandwidth related. When it transcodes - it creates temporary files that have been re-encoded to be compatible. Your server is having issues creating those files/folders. Since it is having that issue, the playback will fail. The plex application is running under a user called plex by default. Settings the dataset permissions for apps is all well and good, but that doesn’t grant Plex the rights it needs. The short answer is to create a global plex user/group as uid/gid 972. That will help the majority of your issues. Read about it here and here

Lastly - when transcoding from EAC3 - your server is having an issue. This could be permissions, but it could be a corrupt codec. If you address the permissions issue and are still seeing errors liked the one below in your Plex Media Server .log - you’ll want to delete the codecs and allow Plex to redownload them (it’ll do it automatically, as needed). Okay - but is the issue resolved, or did you treat a symptom that was exacerbated by the update? I ask - because you said you’ve been having issues for years.

But hey man - if you’re happy with your setup (that doesn’t work all the time) More power to you.

and you still haven’t learned to READ what people have been telling you.
It is irrelevant to the Errors and permissions issues you have that another player can play a file Plex cant.

Freaking take the L and do what the people in here have told you numerous times.

… I mean - if you read what I said - I. You know what. Never mind. Have a good night
