Plex iOS App Not Discovering Local Server on UniFi Wi-Fi

Description:

I’m experiencing a persistent issue where the Plex iOS app on my iPad cannot discover or connect to my local Plex Media Server, even though everything else works fine.

Setup:

  • Plex Media Server running on QNAP NAS (192.168.1.34)

  • iPad running latest iOS and latest Plex app version

  • Router: UniFi Dream Router

  • Apple TV (wired Ethernet) connects to Plex server without issue

  • Plex Web App and Plexamp work perfectly on the same iPad

  • Local Network Access is enabled for Plex app

  • Multicast Enhancement is now enabled on UniFi

  • Client Device Isolation is disabled

  • All devices are on the same subnet (192.168.1.x)

  • Plex server is claimed and signed in with the same account

Symptoms:

  • Plex iOS app shows “Uh oh… something’s not right” under Libraries

  • Music library is visible and playable in Plex Web App and Plexamp

  • Apple TV (wired) sees the Music library instantly

  • iPad (Wi-Fi) cannot discover the server or show any libraries

Troubleshooting Steps Taken:

  • Reinstalled Plex app

  • Reset app permissions

  • Rebooted NAS, router, and iPad

  • Verified network settings on UniFi (mDNS, IGMP Snooping, VLAN bridging)

  • Tried Safari deep link (plex://server/add?address=192.168.1.34&port=32400) — no success

Quite a few folks have experienced the “Uh oh… something’s not right” for older iOS / iPadOS versions, including myself. Never managed to clear the issue.

Sadly quite a few threads with the same issue, no real resolution. Can you confirm what type of iPad and version of iPadOS you are using?
