Plex is Offline or Unreachable on LG TV

Server Version#: 4.22.3
Player Version#: 3.13.28

So frustrated especially as it’s coming up to Christmas, aaarrgghh!
My brother who lives on his own and has special needs can’t access my Plex Media Server at my home anymore on his LG32LM6300PLA TV.

He gets this message:

The app does not need to be updated but I’m wondering if I should guide him to reinstall the app. Also, I’ve noticed his settings page is different to my Plex app on my LG TV. He doesn’t have the ‘Advanced’ section and generally it’s more basic:

My Plex Media Server is connecting fine to all the other devices.

Thanks very much and hope you can help.

Sorry but he does need to update it. I’m running Plex 5.6.1 and WebOS v05.80.60. His tv is far behind.
I believe he’s gonna get the advanced option after updating it and probably the connection I’ll be reestablished by itself.
And if the tv is obsolet, buy him a firetv

That’s a FullHD (1080p) TV (LG).

For LG TVs, Plex officially supports only 4K/UHD sets (Which Smart TV models are supported?).

That version of the Plex client is ~2.5 years old (release notes). It is no longer being updated. Plex has moved to a new version that does not support FHD TVs (preview announcement, release notes).

Even if some kind of work-around exists (I do not know), it would eventually stop working as Plex releases new media server updates.

As @CostaHT mentions, probably time to invest in a FireTV, Roku, etc device.

Thanks for clarifying that and bugger!

I’ve sent him an old Chromecast device that he can stream to from his phone instead.

Out of curiosity, should he already be able to cast Plex from his phone via LG’s own facility?
He can do it with YouTube but Plex does not see LG’s facility.

Thank you.
