I got this morning the DSM7 preview package for my DS918+
When trying to install it, I got the message telling “Plex Media Server” will not work after the update and I was need to wait a compatible version
I can confirm… I did NOT see the message about the Plex dev team needing to update before Plex being compatible with DSM 7… and now CANNOT install Plex to my Synology. WAIT TO UPDATE TO 7.0 until the Plex team can confirm that a new compatible server update is available!
I totally ran in to this issue myself, very keen to know when a DSM 7 compatible version will be released

By chance, I postponed the installation of the DSM7 in waiting a clear answer from the Plex team

I’m already on this. I do ask folks not update to DSM 7 just yet so I may have opportunity to work out all the issues with it.
I am curious where & how folks were able to download the DSM 7 trial.

As to where and how, you have to sign up for the trial and if accepted sent a link for the download.
I have only updated one nas and leaving my main nas for now.

The biggest change going on is the abandoning DSM 5.x compatibility.
That’s going to upset folks but it is what it is. I can’t support both due to the structure of the SPK INFO file.

I think the bold warnings which DSM 7 installation posts before starting the upgrade say it all.
DSM can never be downgraded by us. Only Synology knows the magic incantations and passwords to their database which allow that.
luckily for me i upgraded my dev NAS so my main nas still fine, was keen to see if it would prolong the usage of the ds216j.
