Plex is supported by the preview of DSM7?

I believe we are completely at the mercy of the Plex team due to our collective stupidity

Given this development, I’m going to try to share a DSM 7-compatible SPK today.

Def our saviour, just to add that emby is gubbed aswell, you would think as part of the work synology is doing they would attempt to work with the 3rd party vendors.

You are TRULY AMAZING!

I’m only amazing if it works without my fingers ever leaving my body

as a workaround i want to share what works for me:
connect to synology with ssh/telnet

type:
sudo /var/packages/Plex\ Media\ Server/scripts/start-stop-status start

now plex was running again

Are you using the preview of DSM 7.0 ?

If yes, it’s a great news !

Thanks

Yes, I can also confirm:

  1. Manual start of the package does work.
  2. Only the INFO file and conf & ui interfaces are incompatible.

It would be great if we can have a dev spk, my plex was in stop mode when i put on DSM 7 so not sure if thats why when i try a manual start it doesn’t work.

Its unclear what the update did to those packages deemed not compatible and in my case stopped.

An interesting note, their site states:

DSM 7.0 Preview is not available on the following models. But don’t worry, these models will join the upcoming DSM 7.0 Beta or DSM 7.0 Official.
FS6400, FS3600, SA3600, SA3200D, RC18015xs+, DS1520+, DS920+, DS720+, DS420+, DS220+, DS220j

which user did you use ? root ?

I got 2 error messages :

  • line 18: /user/syno/sbin/synoshare: Permission denied
  • line 22: SYNOPKG_TEMP_LOGFILE: ambiguous redirect

Did you reinstall Plex after upgrading on DSM 7 ?

Thanks in advance

If possible, I would like the DSM 7.0 firmwares for the following NAS devices :

  • DS1513+
  • DS918+
  • DS1019+

Thank you so much.

Again, no promises. I’m finding a new burp in this version of firmware but am doing what I can.

For those of you who aren’t aware, the entire process control executive has been changed. Linux desktop users will know this as "init -> systemd" which does represent a substantial overhaul.
