Plex keeps changing movie titles, sort order, posters, etc

Over the years, I’ve had to continually edit and re-edit the metadata for various movies in my library, particularly the Title and Sort Title. It’s especially annoying with series, as sequels randomly fall out of order and use different naming conventions. How do I get this metadata to lock once and for all?

My movie posters also change at times, another thing that’s especially annoying when I’ve taken time to choose matching posters for a series. I’ve been getting around this by using poster.jpg files for my favorite series, but it’s a real hassle to do this for every movie. Is there some way to lock my chosen poster setting?

Have you tried locking the fields you edit?

I think so, as the lock icon always lights up orange when I edit a field. To be clear, the lock is engaged when the lock icon is lit up orange, correct?

I’ll go through my library again to make sure the lock is engaged for all the series that keep going wonky — Star Wars, MCU, Harry Potter, etc.

As for posters, these don’t appear to have a lock option in the UI. Am I just missing it, or is poster.jpg the official way to lock a poster?
