This is correct. At night it seems to crash when it’s doing it’s maintenance/upgrade protocols. I think the upgrade came out 4 days ago. I hope they fix it quick.
I am also experiencing the same issue my server crashes after maintenance is completed since updating to the latest v1.25.8.5663 and latest Nvidia drivers. Hopefully the dev team can figure out what is causing the issue?
ok, last night (3 am) i got a new crashdump.
in my case its Windows 10 (VM) with Test-PMS 1.25.10.5656-4a499fabb i got from @sa2000
my other PMS 1.25.6 on Syno DSM6 had no crashes - updated last weekend to 1.25.8
Exactly the same issue for me as well - upgraded to PMS 1.25.8.5663 on 3/24, and I have a crash that occurs daily now with the ucrtbase.dll error above. Very frustrating since PMS is also my DVR, and I kinda need to stay on top of it to make sure I’m not missing recordings. Running Windows Server 2016, everything is fully patched, and nothing else was changed.
Same issue. Crashing daily, sometimes more than once.
@sa2000
OK, my Windows Test-PMS 1.25.10.5656-4a499fabb crashed again last night at 2:30.
so, in my case it’s every 3 days! (Test-PMS is running in idle, only.)
My Synology DSM6 PMS 1.25.8 is still running fine.
I now have few examples of these 0xc0000409 STACK_BUFFER_OVERRUN crashes at ucrtbase!abort+0x4b The crashes appear to have started in version 1.25.8
The issue is with our development team and appears to be happening on Windows only
I have sent a development 1.26.0.5703 to a number of users where I have confirmed this crash
I can make it available to others if I get confirmation of the same crash arising - that would be either debug server logs and zipped crash dump (sent privately) or screenshot of Application Exception details showing in the WIndows Application Event Log viewed through Windows Event Viewer
Hi,
Exactly the same behavior here, tested on 3 different windows 10 machines.
Errors and logs attached.

LE: Also, I’ve seen the BEX error on Plex in event viewer (buffer overflow exception) several days ago, so I’ve enabled DEP (data execution prevention) on all programs in “windows advanced settings”. It seems that this setting made plex errors occur less frequently.
Same here. Windows host, version 1.25.8. Plex seems to stop after maintenance window and Logs blurt out ucrtbase.dll

After this morning’s restart I unchecked ‘Refresh local metadata every three days’ in Scheduled Tasks, and sent PMS Log zip to sa2000 (who ought to be sainted someday).
Server 2016 (standard, desktop experience) here. Have a couple machines (new installs on vmware) that do it like clockwork, and one that doesn’t. The only difference I can see between the one that works and the ones that don’t is that I had the binaries to compile VC++ projects on the other. On my problem machines, ucrtbase.dll is 10.0.14393.2097 on the machine where it doesn’t fail on me it’s 10.0.14393.3659
I think installing the VC++ 2015-2019 might be the key (at least on my machines)
It’s renamed to “2015-2022” ![]()
After some further digging, the machines that it behaves on are ones where I’ve exposed an nvidia Quardro and installed the nvidia drivers. They ship with the 2015-2019 runtime (although when i run it natively, it doesn’t seem to update the ucvrtbase.dll)
I am running into the same issue. It appears related as I have the same event view log entry with ucrtbase.dll. Here is an example

Interesting enough this machine does not have any dedicated graphics card, just integrated graphics from Intel i7-8700K CPU. This is on a windows 10 machine OS build 19044.1620. The version of plex is 1.25.9.5673.
I came to say the same thing. My PMS, Version 1.25.8.5663, crashes every few days. Last night, it crashed at midnight which is outside the schedule of 2AM to 4AM.
I’m running it natively on Win11 with only integrated video on a Lenovo I7-9700 with 32GB ram, over 2TB of free space and no user activity. So resources are not a factor.
In the logs, before PMS stopped, the below was logged indicating some sort of networking issue accessing plex.tv but my network never dropped. Notice it says “Stopping”:

Added you all to the Private Message thread for trying out fixes for this issue. Please install the last build linked in the thread: version 26.1.5712
You are already in the message thread and have installed 1.26.1.5712 - which is looking good so far
@sa2000 Hi, thanks, but I’ve received from you an x86 version (not x64) based on the name of the file. It’s ok to replace my x64 version with this x86 version ?
I think this is happening to me as well- repeated, nightly crashes of a server running on Win10. Application crash details from Windows event log attached.
you should not be using an x64 build for windows - the download of a yet to be QA’ed release was inadvertently made available on our downloads page for a few hours
Please use add or remove programs to remove the x64 version of Plex Media Server and then install the x86 version
Is there an approx release date for 1.26.1.5712? Thank you!
