Before this update Plex worked flawlessly for me. It now dims after a few mins before finally going black while watching a video. You can still hear sound while the screen is black. I have uninstalled & reinstalled the app which did not fix it. I have an xbox with kinect hooked up so it does see that i am there watching a video. I did not have this issue before the update so something is wrong.
Can anyone help or is this a known issue which will hopefully be patched soon??!?!

My wife told me about something like this as well, she was watching a movie and it would start to dim while watching it, i haven't personally seen it yet, but it seems others are having the same problem.
Thanks for responding. Reading another post I was able to find the fix, and it definitely works fine now afterwards.
Perform a hard reset on the Xbox by holding power button for about 20 seconds. You will know it worked when the light on on power brick goes from white to orange.
Plex is now working perfectly again. Very odd issue.
Seeing this issue on my xbox one as well. I wonder if its a regression due to the new dimming feature in v1.0.0.11
If you see this issue again, could you please post the exact steps on how you started Plex and the video playback? Whether you're using the Kinect, or bringing up the video controls at any time etc.

Another idea if possible.
Have two versions available for the xBox like you do with the Ruko. A "Plex Client" and a "PlexTest Client" for the xBox(s).
This way we can have a version known to work and can at the same time help test the "new" version.

Same problem here -- no changes on my side.
The player dims to about 50% brightness after 60 seconds or so.
After a couple of minutes the picture is gone (black screen).
No controls (play, pause, settings, etc.) change this behavior; the only way to get the picture back is to use the XBOX button on a controller or remote to switch into the main menu and go back into the PLEX client.
This is a new behavior; PLEX worked flawlessly beforehand.
Mine dims to black but I can wake it up, so not seeing these problems.
I do feel it's a little obnoxiously over zealous though in its dimming - would like an option to slow the process, or even disable it. Even better, implement the fan art screensaver?
Does anyone know if there is anyway to "side load" the older version?
This screen dimming/blanking is driving me crazy.
For me pushing the Xbox power button on the console for 10 seconds until it property reset and a restart solved the issue.
The dimming no longer occurs.

The suggested restart of the xbox has not made any change for me.
It will take about 10 minutes for the first dim to occur, I can then hit a direction key on my remote and it will go back to normal brightness, after the first time, it will then dim every 3-5 minutes. It is not dimming after the same interval each time for me.

Are you guys using a controller or a remot to control plex and the xbox?
I found out that if i plug in my Controller into the xbox's USB port it keeps the screen from dimming.

I have the same issue using logitech harmony remote. followed the steps by trevkat which has fixed the issue... for now

that is a temp fix! after a xbox reboot or on/off it will do it again!

Yes it is a temp fix but that thread also has Plex employees asking for exact repro steps so they can further investigate and fix.
