Xbox goes into Sleep mode and more

For the longest time I felt that the plex app on the XB1 was the best of any other devices, since the December sign in fiasco it has been a complete nightmare (seems like one issue after another). I can’t watch anything on Plex via the XB1 because when using the app the XB1 goes into sleep mode. Also I can no longer use my Logitech harmony remote when using the Plex app on the XB1 (pause/play, fast-forward, rewind) etc, when playing a show. The remote works to navigate to a show/movie but stops working when playback begins. Can someone please shed some light on at least the XB1 going into sleep mode or point me in the right direction (I’ve tried searching and reading a lot of threads with no luck)? Thanks in advance.

Do you mean by sleep mode that this xbox shuts itself off or that the screen dims after a few minutes?

Anyway => Both cases are not what they should be.

a) Hard reboot your console (but you might already have done this)
b) You can try uninstalling the app => hard reboot of your console => reinstall the app.
c) If these problems persist I would suggest a factory reset of the console.

Maybe someone else can help you more, but normally in those cases where the console acts up for a single user, there is not much to do other than a) to c) I described above.

My harmony remote works great with the pled app. I’ve also not had screen dimming issues for a couple updates. Sounds like something got hosed when the new dashboard was installed… if you watch a movie on Xbox video or YouTube does your remote work?

Thanks for the ideas. Talk about a cluster F***. I did a hard reboot, that didn’t work. I uninstalled the app which then caused an error. To clear the error before I could reinstall the app I had to unplug the power to the XB1 for 2+ minutes. Reinstalled the app, ran a test (put a movie on that was having the issue) and no screen dimming/sleep mode activating and the Logitech has it’s full controls back. Thanks again.

Since a few days, I got the dimming issues on my Xbox, I also upgraded to the Plex latest version a few days ago, so i’m not sure if it’s the latest version that causing this issue or maybe Microsoft also upgrade the Xbox? I just press a key on the Microsoft remote control and the screen is ok for a some of time, then again the screen is dimming. It’s the first time that I’m having this sort of things. What should I do? Since it’s a muti user installation, I dont know if the problem is there with the others users; I will test It. and also try the solution a) and b) above.

You mean you upgraded Plex Server a few days ago? There hasn’t been a client update for the Xbox One since December. The screen dimming was removed in an update January 2015 due to the issues you describe: Notes.

Have you tried a restart of your Xbox? Hold the power button until it turns off and then turn back on and see if it works.
Also check that you have the latest version of the Xbox app.

  1. Press the menu button while in the app.
  2. Choose Settings
  3. Should be an About tab (going from memory, not at Xbox),
  4. You should be on version v1.5.0.0.

Yes, I upgraded to Plex Server 0.9.15.3 a fews days ago; (and today I will upgrade it to 0.9.15.4). I looked at the version on the Xbox Plex apps it’s v1.5.0.0. I select reboot Xbox from the menu at the left on the Xbox home screen. Then I start a movie and it did not dimmed. after the movie, Plex Apps was on Plex home Screen and the screen dimmed after a while, I think that this ok (no movie was running)? Thanks for your help.

Well, the Xbox os has its own screen saver as well… if I leave my Xbox sit at the home screen it will dim as well. As long as it doesn’t happen with a movie going that’s expected.
