Have two plex servers, both updated to dsm7. Both updated successfully, biggest issue is one didn’t migrate the library out of the PlexMediaServer share. Is there a way to kick this migration off again?
On the one which did not migrate:
- Uninstall + ERASE option (remove the unwanted DSM 7 creation)
- Make certain the “Plex” share is named “Plex”
- Install again fresh, making certain to:
a. Install on the same volume as the existing Plex share
b. check the “Apply to this folder, sub-folders, and files” check boxes when changing permissions.
It will take time, as you know, so let it run.
ONE POINT:
- PMS 1.24.2 and above: It does move Plex → PlexMediaServer
- This is the new normal and replacement (I figured it out) for what was lost in DSM 7.0-41890
oh. That’s what I see is a “PlexMediaServer” share. So stuff is now back in a share and not hidden away?
CORRECT.
I managed to make a way for us to backup our data again.
It comes with restrictions.
Awesome, well then, we can close this out. And yeah, that was one of my “huh, how do we do this?”
Thanks!
oh, related. So I did install latest version on other DSM7 machine, and it didn’t create a new PlexMediaServer share (but it had put everything internal). Is that expected?
which version did you install?
Plex Pass 1.24.2 ?
Oh, guess this other one is on 1.24.1.4931… yet doesn’t tell me an update is available. Will update to 1.24.2 and see what happens.
Thanks!
Yup, that did it. The share appeared.
Thanks!!!
Outstanding!
