My brother reported that he was having trouble streaming something off my plex server today. He kept getting a “s1002 network” error. I looked at the dashboard, and saw that the server was giving him the episode at 1mps 480p. I tested the upload bandwidth of the server with speedof.me, and we’re getting our full 15mbps like normal. I tried playing something on my cellphone, and found that it was also lowering the bitrate to 1 mbps 480p too. I had a friend test it out and he’s having the same issue from my server.
and yes the setting under remote access is set to “(original) no limit”.
This means very likely that those clients cannot reach your server directly.
So they revert to the last option: a relay connection which is restricted to 1 mbps for normal users and 2mbps for Plex pass holders.
Your server is online, so it might be just an issue with DNS.
You can try to reboot the router of the network where these clients are situated.
Sometimes, ISPs mess up and don’t deliver up-to-date DNS results. You could try to re-configure the router not to use the ISP’s DNS server but those of Google (8.8.8.8).
