also, should I set my logs to debug or verbose?
At this stage for the first set of logs from you - debug would be fine plus indication as to when the subs dirsappeared - after how many minutes and how long the video duration in total is

I was suggesting this because you could download the movie from my Plex and also I could send you the logs. How do I send you the logs?
It would not be just me that may need the file. It would be easiest if the set of files / media + srt - were made available on dropbox or googedrive or onedrive etc and link shared. Best would be to find a short video that shows the problem and to have that for the test covered by the logs provided

I have reproduced the error .
It will appear 5:50 into the video file. Subtitle will start to dissapear until its not showing at all.
Logs are attached in the link and videofile to test with. Dropbox - File Deleted - Simplify your life
Running Server 1.10.0.4523 on windows
Playing with Chromecast
Using an android tablet with plex 6.9.0.2683
Logs have debug logging turned on.
Now please fix this and have it never appear again. (praying to the coding gods)
Thank you very much. Will try and reproduce the problem

Thank you for providing all this. I have managed to replicate the problem on chromecast and I will be passing it to the development team. Please keep the files on dropbox until the problem is fixed.

The issue of losing subtitles near the end of the video reported on plex web and Samsung tizen has been identified and a fix has been tested and is expected to be in the next release - initially beta
The issue of losing subtitles on chromecast after few minutes of starting to stream has been reproduced and is under investigation by the development team

Hi,
I continue with the same issue on the Samsung TV player, the subtitles disappears on the last minutes of the movie. I have the latest server version.
Plex Media Server Beta Release 1.10.1.4561 has been released and it includes a fix for loss of subtitles near the end of the episode / movie
Thx for the update. Do you have an ETA about the Chromecast bug? It seems that I can`t revert back to previous versions of Plex, it wont let me. Unless of course I completely uninstall it beforehand, therefore losing all my libraries setup.

I don’t have any update on the chromecast issue. It is still being investigated

On windows, you cannot downgrade a version of an installed program without going through an uninstall of the current version first. Uninstall of Plex Media Server does not remove data / setup. It only removes the program files
Been following this thread closely as also all my subs files have completely stopped working for a few weeks now.
Playing with the new update 1.10.1.4561 the problem still is the same playing a film/series with subs via chrome cast and stopping after a few seconds… Subs ares till completely unusable for me.
I followed other users downgrading to Plex Media Server 1.8.4.4249-3497d6779 (9th July 2017) for the time being.
Unistalling will not delete any of your settings or library
You cannot downgrade without uninstalling first
You can find all previous versions within your own computer in the USER/AppData location: Check the folder C:\Users\XXXXXXXXX\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Updates
Results so far with this version - all works fine!!!

Can anyone share the *.deb package of 1.8.4.4249? I have to downgrade, because the current release is unusable.

Thx. I confirm that the subtitles are fine on 1.8.x version that I installed.
Same here, subtitle problems in combination with chromecast are still present after updating to latest version. Downgraded to version 1.8.4.4249 and everything is fine now. Now more updating for this guy any time soon. Thanks to “thisisevilevil” for providing this filehorse.com/download-plex-media-server/31988/ link.
1.10.1.4561 resolves all subtitles problems for me on Web Player (Chrome on Windows), IOS and TVOS.
However, another issue appear in recent builds: pausing a show for too long near the end of the episode causes Plex to display Network Error “shaka1001”, close the video player and go back to the episodes list…

The fix should get released in the next version of Plex Media Server
