The feedback from users who had the issue with Chromecast is that it has been resolved
Also ealry reports of dropout of subs on Plex on Samsung Tizen have been resolved
There is one new reported case of subtitles dropout on Samsung Tizen which has been referred to the development team
With regards to releasing 1.11.0.4666 as public release, I am unable to confirm. However, we do have a number of reported crashes on this version and the release as public release may get delayed or skipped for this version. I will provide further information if and when it is available
@“alec-sweden@hotmail.com” - Please see the post just previous to yours. It summarizes why the Plex Pass fixed version hasn’t been released to public yet. You’re more than welcome to get a monthly Plex Pass until it does get released to main stream.
However… when you plan to release the public version with the fix? I was really excited about Plex, but now I had to go back to the my old media players.
Does this apply to vobsub or just srt? I have dropped vobsubs using latest public and beta releases of server and latest release of Fire TV client. Server says content is direct play, subtitles will work fine and then it stop for a line, then pop back up on the screen, then maybe 10 seconds later no subtitles. I’ve confirmed the subtitles are there via VLC and happens with more than one piece of content.

The issues that were being investigated were as far as i recall all to do with sidecar subtitles (like srt files)
If you are running on latest Plex Media Server beta release and latest FireTV client app, please raise a new topic either on the server forum or android TV forum with logs form both ends and indication as to time when subs dropped and it will be necessary to provide the file that gives rise to the issue. See if you can get the issue with a short clip eg 10 minute clip
So, I am just starting with this whole Plex experience and so far I have enjoyed it. One of my biggest frustrations is the whole subtitles not working right. I have it set to automatically display it, but some movies/shows I am not seeing it when I should. When I download a movie, is there a file I should have that would include the subtitle?
When I created the 10 minute clip where originally the subtitles were hit and miss, the final product appears to be 100% miss on Plex only (direct play) so hopefully it is a good test case.
Subtitles is broken on public channel for months and still they refused to release the fix even though they have it. It is clear that they do not regard this as a major problem, which is a shame. Was even considering getting lifetime subscription until their recent focus on things that don’t matter at all.
I finally tried Emby after loving Plex for years, and honestly Emby server is on par with Plex server, but their subtitle support is far superior and not an after thoughts. The bad thing though is their Android client sucks with tons of bugs that I can easily reproduce.
But for now I will stick with Emby until Plex gets their act together.
I disagree with you Kolslorr, i am a lifetime member because as a paid member you got some advantages then non paying members. And since i reported this issue a fix or a workaround has been given and so the problem is solved for paid customers.
The fact that you disagree with their business model is ok but at the end they will need to earn money to strive to be a better product.
So if you want your problem fixed you can either chose to pay for membership or maybe see if you can downgrade to a version where it was still working or ofcourse chose another product that has other issues as you mention

The version released for paying customers is a beta with a lot of reported crashed, isn’t that right?

Thanks but I am not interested to use beta version and give myself more problems.
My point is still Plex continues to treat subtitle support as second class, do not bother to put in a fix for a self-inflicted problem, and yet concentrates on the unnecessary features on forced login, news feed, yadayada…
By the way, I just realised Emby server handles many different types of media better than Plex. I have a FHD movie which PMS will constantly crash on me but Emby has no problem when playing on Chromecast. Emby is also able to direct play a lot more media WITH SUBTITLE on my Pixel 2 while Plex for whatever reason forced them to be transcodes. Go figure.

well I have a plex pass so I am a paying customer
I am afraid to report that (.srt) subtitles are still droping after 5 to 10mn when hardware transcoding is being used…
I could turn off HW transcoding, then the issue tends not to happen but it uses 50 to 80% CPU on my NAS depending on the stream quality…
If there’s a workaround I’d be happy to hear about it, if not I might as well return to free version until it s fixed
My config is
Server: Synology Diskstation DS218+
Player: chromecast or sony opera player TV
When is PMS 1.11.0.4666 coming to public channel? I am a Chromecast user with the latest public (1.10.1.4602) and it is pretty broken for me. English not being my first language, this is is awkwardly annoying for me.

It did not make it to public because there were a number of crashes
It has now been superseded with 1.11.1.4730 which was released as beta yesterday
