Plex Lost Local Media

Server Version#: Synology NAS Plex Version 1.21.1.3830
Player Version#: Browser

I replaced my wifi routers a few weeks ago and just noticed plex isn’t working anymore. I don’t know if they are related, but it is the only thing that has changed on my network. When I accessed plex through a browser the first time it showed a message on my media tabs “no soup for you” and said it did not have access. I tried deleting the server from devices and clearing out the user info in the preferences file which tried to allow me to re add the server. Now it is asking me to reclaim my nas server, but all it does is spin and then nothing. How can I get my media on my nas added back into plex?

I have a DS412+ and the system has worked well for years. I am on DSM DSM 6.2.4-25556. I tried all of the above, but when I click claim server it spins for a while and then the button reverts to showing claim server. What else can I try to get my server back?

Hi, here are the logs from my plex server.Logs.zip (6.5 MB)

Hi, thanks for the info. I have updated DSM to update 2. For some reason it wasn’t available through the web GUI so I downloaded it from their site. I also have updated Plex as per your instructions. I went through the logs and deleted all the files that were causing the Exception analyzing media file error above. Do you know where I can find what is causing the Error response for update 3 files? I couldn’t locate that in the logs. I have also include a new set of log files to see if that helps. The Claim Server function still isn’t working unfortunately. Thanks again for your help.

Is it possible there is a double NAT issue? 192.168.68.x is the subnet I use for all of my devices. My router is at 192.168.68.1. 192.168.0.1 is my providers modem. Is there any port forwarding that is required with this setup?

If you have the following:

  1. ISP (192.168.0.x) → Switch → Your modem (192.168.68.x) → Devices

  2. Your computers are on the 192.168.0.x network through the switch

  3. But your server is on 192.168.68.x

  4. Your computers are “Remote” (not Nearby) to the server because the subnet address is different.

  5. With respect to Plex.tv, and your server on 192.168.68.x , you absolutely have created a Double NAT problem. You can manually map the ports in both routers to make it work but Plex cannot automatically do it. The best solution is a flat (all same subnet) LAN. There is no increased security once someone gets past the ISP modem/router.

As an alternative, you could make different subnets (192.168.1.x, 2.x, and 3.x)

For this case, you would only need to widen the netmask to /20 instead of the default /24.

You’d have your grouping so it looks clean but it is still a flat LAN.
