Plex Media Player - Controller problem

So… this is the setup I am trying to configure:

  • My server is running on the VPS (not local network)
  • My Windows machine is running Plex for Windows (local network) -> “Advertise as player” option is ticked in the settings
  • I am trying to control everything from the plex on my Note 9 Android phone (local network) but it’s not working

Is this setup even possible to function properly?

The main problem is that plex on the Android phone is not finding any players that I can control. What am I missing?

So both clients on the same network but you cannot chose the Plex for Windows as player from your Android?

Same here. Already updated everything and the problem persist.

Yes, I tried the stuff mentioned in the troubleshooting support article, but still a no-go.
Some other suggestion?

You might check your firewall(s) to verify the ports used for Plex companion communication are open, allowing the devices to see each other

The current public Android client has a bug in the companion feature. This is fixed in the current beta version, which should go public in a few days.
