Plex android not seeing other plex players for remote feature

I have a KVM setup to switch between my work machine and personal machine. The plex remote feature is insanely useful here so I can change whats playing on plex (running on my personal machine) without having to switch the KVM.

My desktop and mobile phone are on different subnets and different VLANs, but regardless I was able to use the plex remote from my phone to control the plex player on windows.

Around early June this feature stopped working. On the Plex Android app, there’s a button that looks like the google cast button which used to show other players on my network. Now it doesn’t show any players.

Did something change regarding this feature?
Googling for this issue doesn’t turn up much as any keywords that suggest plex player connectivity issues is always between the player and the server.

Neither the android or windows apps have issues connecting to my server, which is also on another subnet and vlan.

Let me know if I can provide any other information.
I have checked the firewall on windows and my router, I’m not blocking any plex related ports in either location.

What the fudge. I thought the Plex windows app was the primary version and Plex HTPC was being deprecated.

I got the latest version of Plex HTPC and the android app is still not able to see this player for remote control. Even with content playing, clicking on the remote icon only gives me an option to connect to Sonos.

NEVER MIND, I had to restart the plex android app. All good now, thank you!.

Glad to hear that. I was about to post the unhelpful reply that it works on my iOS app :).
