Since a few days, plex media player doesn’ work anymore (expired digital certificate).
i upgrade my QTS to the beta version (5.0.1.2034) and the last version of media player (V2.58.0.200) but plex player does not work (nothing when i launch the player).
someone can help me about this problem ?
i have many movies et tv shows on the plex server et no player to see them …)
thx a lot

Can you see/play your movies using Plex Web?

Plex Media Player was recently discontinued in favor of Plex for Win/Mac/Linux and Plex HTPC (download for both).

However, PMP still works.

What does “nothing when i launch the player” mean? Blank window, can see media but it does not play, etc. Also, are you using the desktop or TV mode layout?

thx for answer.

i was with the QTS 5.0 and QTS say me, a few days, that the digital certificate have expired (pmp)
so i upgrade to the beta version (5.0.1) and install the last apk of pmp.

its works with plex web.

When i launch the app, i have the square rotates but app dont launch, movies and tv show doen’t display

You are running Plex Media Player on the QNAP?

I’m unfamiliar with QNAP. Hopefully others can help with QNAP specifics. I’m running PMP on Windows 10.

With regards to Plex Media Player…

Try re-creating the plexmediaplayer.conf and storage.json files. On Windows 10, they are located in %LOCALAPPDATA%/PlexMediaPlayer. Unsure of their location on a QNAP NAS.

Rename plexmediaplayer.conf to plexmediaplayer.conf.old, and storage.json to storage.json.old.

Run PMP. It should create new versions of both files.

You will have to login again and re-pin your libraries.

To add to FordGuy61,

If you’re using the QNAP app in HDStation (the player with the pic of a dog in it), it’s no longer supported.

Plex gave that app to Public Domain several years ago.
The person who was supporting it for QNAP use stopped doing so.

That software is no longer compatible with Plex.tv or PMS.

hi,

plex media player is runing on qnap effectively.
dont find these files on the qnap with file station, so dont know what to do :frowning:

Given the status of PMP - discontinued & not supported - you should probably look for another solution.

You can use the desktop clients to watch using a PC/Mac/Linux system.

You can also use a streaming devices such as an AppleTV, FireStick, Roku, etc. or SmartTV app if available on your TV.

hi,

just look for a player wich can read my plex server …

I have the same issue stated end of May.
I’m using TVS-672N with
PMS 1.26.2
QTS:5.0.0.2055
PMP:2.58
HDS 4.2.3

I tried installing Kodi 19.4 and it doesn’t work either. So I guess the problem is with QNAP.
Have been trying QNAP help desk but they claim they do not support 3rd party app.
But contradictory they are partner with PMS and selling NAS model with HDMI output but doesn’t support PMP ?
Still hope QNAP can resolve the digital signature issues with 3rd party player like Plex/KODI

We could read the files in QNAP NAS thru streaming devices but the output will not be the same as NAS direct HDMI and remote control.
All Dolby atmos and DTS TrueHD will not be able to decode thru optical or ARC output

How so?

Plex HTPC on Windows will passthrough any video/audio that PMP passes.

Same for a Nvidia Shield Pro.

That applies to any device/app using optical or HDMI-ARC, including PMP.
