Plex Media Player free

Hi.
I have the latest server and player versions installed.
I have my server setup on a dedicated PC (Intel i7-8550U 8th Gen. 4 Cores CPU, 8GB DDR4 RAM)
I have Plex Media Player on another PC ( Intel 4th Generation i7 Haswell, 4K HTPC with 8GB RAM,) this PC has a wired connection to my home network and the internet

The issue I am having is that when I playback any video with PMP, it periodically hiccups, or freezes for a split second.
If I play this video back with any other media player, it plays back smoothly.
I’ve watched video on my friend’s smart tv, streaming from my server, outside my home network, and it also played back seamlessly.

I am new at this, and have tried to find answers, but have had no luck.

I have downloaded logs, but I don’t know what I am looking for.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Do you have a TV connected to your ‘PMP computer’ or are you using a regular ‘computer monitor’?

Sorry I have the computer hooked up to Pioneer Elite plasma tv. Before plex, I would use this setup to play videos, and never had an issue.

Do you have an AVR inbetween, for surround sound?

  • Put PMP into the ‘TV mode’ (if it isn’t already)
  • click on your user avatar
  • ‘Settings’
  • Video
  • tick ‘Allow Display Mode Switching’

Yes I have an AVR. I don’t watch in TV Mode. Does that make a difference? I will try the settings that you recommend when I get home from work and post the results.

Thanks!

I think so, yes. Refresh rate switching doesn’t work in desktop mode.

Ok. Thank you so much for your time. I will post results later tonight.

Steve

Wow. Awesome this worked! Thanks!
