It pains me to say this, but I can firmly state that current public and beta build of Plex Media Server is sabotaged, either intentionally or not, but its not like them to have this many issues with a build.
List of issues I noticed so far: (will update post with more issues as post gets responded)
PMS Crashing with a message “500 Internal Server Error”
Automatic and Partial Scan detection not working
DVR missing and not able to re-add tuner with automatic detection, even when manually entering IP address of the tuner, it gets stuck on EPG mapping page
Dashboard keeps showing now playing for items that are not actually playing and wont remove old streams that used to be playing from the dashboard
Optimizing Database button in troubleshooting just hangs and does not do anything
Unable to download crash dump logs
Crash logs not being sent to plex Support
Remote access not working (unverified)
Plex unmatching meta data (unverified)
Plex cant install 1.16.3.1402 update automatically and needs to be downloaded and installed manually
Only solution i have so far is to downgrade to 1.16.0.1226, remove tuner, then upgrade to 1.16.2.1321 and reinstall tuner and epg mapping works.
I don’t believe crash reports are reaching plex support team, for the same reason there are no crash dump logs in the log folder… Plex support may not be aware of any of these issues.
My tuners also disappeared and I cannot re-add them. I have now downgraded to 1.16.0.1220 and the tuners are there, but the channel mappings are missing. When I try to fix it, Plex guesses what provider I have, then fails to get the channel mappings. They should put DVR back in beta, when they were actively working on it, and it was stable. Now the DVR I have come to rely on is toast and I have found no way of fixing it yet. I’m going to keep downgrading until I get to a version that works, then stop the upgrades at 1.16.2.1321, the last working version. 1.16.3.1402 should be pulled so no one else loses their setup.
That appears to be a problem with every version post 1.16.0, I’m afraid although the solution (downgrade to 1.6.0, delete DVR, upgrade, add DVR) only needs to be done once.
I get this error for 24 hours after every upgrade and restart (but remote access is actually working fine). I have no clue why and no-one of this forum was able to work it out.
What version were you on before upgrading to 1.16.3.1402?
While I don’t have problems as severe as some of you mentioned, I did wait a while before installing 1.16.3.1402, but in the end, I had to downgrade back to 1.16.1.1291. It was easier for me as my PMS is on Ubuntu, and I have kept all the .deb files I have downloaded in the past.
There were a few issues. First, while a recording starts, and when I want to watch it from the start, the interface (web page on Chrome/Firefox) would not let me jump to a certain point in time. It would keep buffering and buffering, and in the end, it fails and gives me an “S7000 error”… not sure what that is as I couldn’t find anything about it.
When it does eventually work after multiple tries, the other issue was that when jumping through in time, the playback is out of whack. For example, if the recording starts at 11 AM, and I want to jump to 11:08, it only jumps ahead to 11:03, or earlier when using the progress bar. When using the +30 or -10 buttons, it also didn’t work as expected either.
Then, the other problem was with Live TV. It just wouldn’t work for me… the symptoms were similar to the record then watch while recording above. It just kept buffering.
After reverting back to 1.16.1.1291, everything was back to normal.
I am noticing quite a bit of lag in going into and out of series etc. It just seems like its running like crap now and I can’t pin down why other than it being the update itself. When its playing it seems fine, but its just navigating to and actually getting it to play something seems to be stalling a lot. I am not running the optional new interface either. Mines on a QNAP TVS-663.
This is the buggiest plex build i have ever seen, support needs to do more testing and bug fixing and pause new development for a few months till they get this in order
This is very worrying. I am wondering if this a platform specific problem. I am using release 1.16.3.1402 . on a QNAP TS-453 Pro. As yet I have not noticed any problems and my attached DVR is also operating fine (although I have not attempted to change any settings) . I only logged on to the forum just now to see if there was a reason for the flurry of recent upgrades to PMS.
I will be watching developments on this thread with interest.
