Plex Media Server 1.18.1.1973 not connecting as Authorised Device

Server Version#: 1.18.1.1973 running on Synology DS1813+
Player Version#: 1.3.1.916 Plex for Windows

I updated the PMS on the Synology NAS manually to the latest listed on the Plex site which was 1.18.1.1973, as my PMS always was difficult to access via the local IP, i.e. 192.168.1.235:32400/web.

Since the update the server seems to start and runs as expected on the NAS, but the local webpage does not resolve, i.e. 192.168.1.235:32400/web, and through app.plex.tv the Authorised Devices list shows the PMS running on the NAS as being connected 7 days ago, even though another Plex player was playing media from the PMS earlier today before the upgrade.

The NAS does not allow rolling back to the 1.16 older software.

I have had a lot of problems viewing the PMS web pages in the last few years with no particular reason as to why it would resolve or not. Sometimes it would display normally and other times it wouldn’t but if you checked back later it would be displayed.

The Synology NAS has very few packages installed and running. I’ve stopped all of them except the PMS in case they were having any effect. I can’t see any setting within the NAS which might stop the 192.168.1.235:32400/web resolving. It appears like the PMS is not running but the NAS Package Center says it is ‘running’.

Thanks for all that.
I did try using PuTTY and using the claimpms.sh but it says “Permission denied”, even though I am logged in as admin.
Last night the 192.168.1.235:32400 was not resolving, but this morning it does open the webpage but still does not show its own media, and the authorised devices list does not include itself. Strange as the Plex webpage displayed when viewing 192.168.1.235:32400 is generated by the PMS, and you have to login when first opening the page, so I’d presume the server has to adding itself to the devices list but it seems like the PMS runs a client page and the server side isn’t running or claimed?

Sorry, you are saying I have missed something that you have listed on Q16?
I did reboot modem/router and everything else. I did try using plex/web to claim the server.
I downloaded the claimpms.sh to the NAS, and used PuTTY to login as admin, change dir to where the .sh file is located, and tried running it, but permission denied.
I have renamed the preferences.xml and restarted the PMS, and opened the web page and it fails to claim the server. Although I am trying not to have to reset my settings as there are a lot of movies sorted into Collections which will be a real pain if this is lost.

I am having the same problem. Mine started with “Secure Connection” problems. Again, like you it started with this update. Some time back there was a permission issue that I did not have because I had already set permission for the Plex User.

Is there any way to go back to the prior version? I could uninstall plex and manually install it if I could download it.

I get this error when connecting to: app.plex.tv

When I look at Settings the OLD Secure Setting is not long there. I think I use “Preferred” in the past when it was there.

Unable to connect to “MyPlexServer” securely

Its “Secure connections” setting may be set to disabled, or you may need to adjust some settings on your network. You can learn more about secure connections here.

You can also allow insecure connections now, which will reload the app insecurely.

I tried to use the “ALLOW INSECURE CONNECTIONS” Link but it did not work.

I do have local Apps that do not support Secure Connections and is why I use Preferred.

I happened to have PLEX Version 1.16.6.1592 from Sep 20, 2019. I uninstalled PLEX Version 1. 1.18.1.1973 and reinstalled the older version and now I have not problems. I am not sure which version I was running prior to 1.18.1.1973 because I don’t always keep the older versions and also I use two computers.

Is there anyway to get the version after the one I installed but before the latest 1.18.1.1973 which apparently has bugs.
