Plex Media Server....a Real Mess

Server Version#:PlexMediaServer-1.13.4.5271-200287a06-x86_64
Player Version#:DS416play

OK…I admit I have made a whole mess with Plex Media Server on my Synology DS416play. Over a period of time it has got into a real mess and now I want to fix it by starting all over again but I just don’t know how to. Can someone explain to an idiot (ME) how to reconfigure my Plex Server? Obviously, I don’t want to delete my media which consists of 100s of Movies and TV shows and 1000s of Music FLAC files. I have tried to delete within Plex the Libraries like Music, Movies etc…all to no avail.
I have set up a Plex Media Server on my MacBook Pro 2017…which is working well and everything is in order the way I want it but that means me turning on and leaving it on the MacBook Pro and it gets all the data from my Synology Nas.
But I want my Synology Nas to run Plex Media Server with all the files showing correctly and not getting Errors. Can someone please help?

Thanks for a great reply but can I ask you a few questions before I start the re-installing of my Plex Media Server on my Synology Nas. As I say I have set up a Plex media Server on my MacBook Pro with the files all stored on my Nas and it totally works so I don’t want to do anything that might jeopardize it, so I was wondering if I deleted :-1:

  • Open Control Panel -> Users -> Delete the Plex user.
  • Open Control Panel → Shared Folders → Delete the Plex share. (This step is Optional, see the note below.)…
although in saying that I could always reinstall the Plex Server on the MacBook Pro
Also you say "Before you start adding media to your freshly installed PMS, make sure it is named CORRECTLY. This is an important step if you wish to have Plex run smoothly, especially on a NAS."
What do you mean Name it correctly? would I not name it the same as I have it now which DSMEDIA?
