Plex Media Server app not running on mac

I was previously able to run Plex Media Server on my macmini; however, suddenly today when viewing my plex media player, everything on my server was tagged ‘unavailable.’
The PMS simply won’t run. When I click on the application, the icon appears for a split second on my mac toolbar, but it won’t run. I have also tried reinstalling the latest version from the Plex website to no avail. Any suggestions?

Server Version#: 1.18.4.2171-ac2afe5f8
Player Version#: 1.4.1.940-574c2fa7

Try from a browser and not from Menu Bar.

Which MacOS version? Did you update recently. Have AV installed?

It doesn’t matter where I run plex player. The server is not running.

I have MacOS Mojave (10.14.1), and I haven’t updated recently.

I do not know what AV is. Can you help me understand?

Anti Virus

Of course. Thanks.
Yes, I have avast (version 14.2). I have disabled it (and even temporarily uninstalled it), but the issue running PMS remains.

Ok prior to taking the next step, make sure you have emptied all your browser’s cache and temp files. To see if that has worked. I would have expected you have already tried.

Sad News if that failed, you need to uninstall Plex.

Follow these steps exactly in the following support article.

Now after uninstall you can go to: https://www.plex.tv/

Download Plex Server and start again. All your content will be in same place.

It’s probably a good thing it’s happened,it will clean out a lot of crud that may have collected over time.
So don’t despair, Plex will be back soon.
