Plex Media Server App on Samsung Smart TV

I have had PMS for years and have updated without any issues, but within the last few weeks or so, when I open up the Samsung Smart TV Hub, and select the Plex app, it just sits there like it’s starting up but after a bit it goes back to the smart hub. I have uninstalled and reinstalled many times where I would have to insert the code to link it back up with my Samsung Smart TV and it will work for awhile then it starts acting again like it won’t start up again. I have the network wired and have tried the wireless without any change. I have a Netgear NightHawk router. R7500, but I have no idea why this has been happening. when it does open up the app it plays fine and then all of a sudden it will give me a network error and sometimes I can start the movie back up but most times I can’t start the Plex app back. Any ideas why this is happening?

There’s been a change some weeks ago that will prevent very old application versions from working (as the one that can be found on Samsung smart hub TVs). If your TV is one of those models that support no up-to-date communication encryption, you might be out of luck.

In this case your best shot might be to add an entry-level streaming box or stick to your Samsung TV (e.g. Roku, Fire TV, Chromecast) – unless you want to go full speed ahead with a more powerful box (e.g. Roku, Nvidia Shield, Apple TV)
