Plex Media Server crashing after update to macOS Big Sur

I have the same issue too. I had to boot my Mac into safe mode to disable PMS launching on startup. However, as soon as I open Plex Media Server again manually, my system completely crashes seconds after and restarts. You can download my Plex logs here.

And here’s the crash report I get after my Mac restarts:

panic(cpu 0 caller 0xffffff801debfb71): assertion failed: (MBUFQ_EMPTY(&cfq->q_mq) && cfq->q_start == cfq->q_end) || (!MBUFQ_EMPTY(&cfq->q_mq) && cfq->q_start != cfq->q_end), file: /AppleInternal/BuildRoot/Library/Caches/com.apple.xbs/Sources/xnu/xnu-7195.50.7/bsd/net/content_filter.c, line: 1089

Mod-Edit: moved this into a dedicated thread; the thread you posted in was particularly about Plexamp.

Are you using any system-level Adblock, network filtering, or do you have any VPN software installed?

A post was merged into an existing topic: Plex Server Crashes Mac OSX Big Sur 11.0.1

Yesterday I installed Big Sur on my iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017).
I upgraded Adblock and Little Snitch.
When I touched on Plex server media icon, my iMac crashed. I tried many times and it crashed always.

Go read the linked thread above for more details.

There is a bug in Big Sur. It crashes if any network extensions are installed. You can uninstall all network extensions, or can disable the DLNA server in Plex.

I can’t enter in Plex to disable DLNA server. How can I enter in Plex without making a crash of my iMac?

From the thread linked above (as mentioned by Volts):

For TripMode users: They’ve released an updated version that includes a workaround for the issue. In very brief testing, it avoids the macOS panic. Downloadable here:

Also, Apple appears to have resolved this in the macOS 11.1 dev beta released today. Adventurous folks can jump on the dev beta, or Apple usually releases it as a public beta within a day or two.

Edit: Public beta of 11.1 now available too.
