I have the same problem.
Has anyone from the dev team been able to look into this ?

Hello Plex Team, is anybody working to fix this issue ? When will be fixed ?

Hi

A new version released(1.24.3.5033) but still the same issue

Please team, fix this issue

THE SOLUTION
guys, i found the solution, the problem is most likely that your subtitles are not coded in UTF8, this guide fixed it for me How to Fix Subtitles weird characters encoding - YouTube

Domestos this is not a solution to manually update the files
@Plex team please fix this

for me it does not work, and also it is a lot of work to convert.
@Plex team please help us and fix this

I still recommend this to you all… unless someone knows how to submit a official bug report to the Plex Devs. Maybe that will get their attention? I’m too lazy at this point to find out where to do that bug report.

Another update but still no fix

seems only here in the forum is possible: Reporting issues with Plex Media Server | Plex Support
I hope they are going to read and fix in the end

Once again @OttoKerner, as you were the only Moderator that participated in this discussion, please raise the topic to developers

Thanks,

Already done, but the answer remains the same: Convert your SRT files to use UTF-8 text encoding.

But Otto was a thing which was working and now is not working anymore
all the desktop or mobile players like VLC have embedded the functionality to detect or change the ISO standard…I do not have to convert manually the file

Hello, I have the same issue. I am converting the SRT’s to UTF-8 text but it does not work as it was in the past.

Hello, i have the same problem. Plex please fix this

I still use old version 1.23.6.4881, i don’t want convert every subtitle what i have in UTF-8.

Hi everyone,

There are 2 ways solving this problem with romanian subs:

  1. rollback to 1.23 (not the best solution)
  2. use SRT2UTF-8 plug-in → Home · ukdtom/SRT2UTF-8.bundle Wiki · GitHub

I recommend the 2nd option because it works amazingly well, it automatically renames .srt to .ro.srt and converts them to UTF-8. You only need to pick the correct agents for your library and that’s it. I picked The Movie Database for both Movies and TV Shows.

Thanks!

Hi
