Plex Media Server is currently unavailable - QNAP NAS TS-251

Hi,

I have Plex running for several years on my NAS (QNAP TS-251). I always ran the latest version, just like today.
Last Thursday, a PC shop upgraded the NAS from 1GB to 4GB (1 memory slot). Soon after, I cannot connect to Plex Media Server (PMS).

At first, it nagged about insecure connection. But when I chose to connect insecurely, it worked for a short time. Afterwards it became worse. Today, Plex is no longer able to find my PMS (see screenshots).
I tried to connect through Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer and Chrome.

Can you help me?

With kind regards,
Patrick

Server Version#: 1.18.1
Player Version#: -

Please browse to http://192.168.0.243:32400/identity

Then post the output

After about 15 minutes, it only shows a completely blanc page.

Try with another browser, and if same result, then re-download PMS, and apply on top of the existing one

I tried both. I regret to say it, but the situation stays the same.

I need a screenshot then please

I rebooted the NAS. I then browsed to the web address of the NAS and I selected for ‘always Insecure connections’. I attached the screenshot of the result.

This is the result of http://192.168.0.243:32400/identity is shown in the screenshot.

I wasn’t able to and the xml text in this reply. Can you ell me how to do this?

With kind regards,
Patrick

You provided me with what I wanted with latest screenshot

It shows claimed="1" meaning that your PMS is claimed

So since your browser is looking for it, leaves two possibilities:

  • PMS is logged into a different account than you are in your browser
  • PMS can’t connect to plex.tv

For a start, check in QNAP, that your default gateway and DNS is correct, and if so, upload a zip file with PMS logs

A post was split to a new topic: QNAP PMS not claimed

I’m familiar with with computer stuff, but concerning networking, I’m a rookie.
I attached a screenshot. about the Default Gateway. I didn’t change thing yet.

I have to say, the NAS became very slow since yesterday.

You need to fill out default gateway with the IP Address of your Router
(Most likely 192.168.0.1)

Also set Jumbo frame to 1500

Lastly make sure your DNS settings are also set to some valid DNS servers, and if in doubt, use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

After that, restart your QNAP

I used to connect to Plex through https://192.168.0.243/web
Should Fixed IP Address be changed from 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.243?

Ohhh…

Then the PC shop altered this, and changed IP!

Try and select the option `Obtain IP settings automaticly via DHCP’
Then restart QNAP, and you might have to find it’s new address afterwards using QFinder

This didn’t work on the NAS. I did this in QFinder and it worked.

Dane22, thank you a lot. If you come to Belgium, I will offer you some good beers!

Belgium beers rocks

I’m afraid that the same problem is back again. The solution lasted only a couple of hours… Strange
Maybe I did a reboot, I don’t remember anymore.

These are current screenshots:

I didn’t change anything since my last post, but I was able to see my stuff in Plex (Cinema Nuvendro). A few hours later, I couldn’t access it anymore.

Your pictures were fun

Dane help! xD

We need to see the PMS logs here, since according to the /identity endpoint, your PMS is claimed, so most likely it’s having problems communicating with plex.tv

Hi Dane,

Where can I get the PMS logs on the QNAP TS-251?

With kind regards,
Patrick
