Plex Media Server Is Gone

Server Version#: 1.25.2.5319-7000
Player Version#: Not important.

Months ago: Upgraded to DSM 7. Upgraded Plex to match and it was working out just fine.

This week: Replaced a drive in my Synology 1019+ and added another drive, filling out my NAS. After the rebuild the Plex server was working and I could see my library. There was a server update available so I did that. When it started back up there was a notification pop up thing about upgrading libraries for the new Plex Server agent whatever. I clicked upgrade. My server disappears. Couldn’t see it in players. Couldn’t see it in PMS on the NAS. Nothing.

Today: After much uninstalling and reinstalling of PMS based on comments I have found and I can now see the server however it shows as unclaimed and when I click claim nothing happens. It just spins for a while and then goes back to the same thing it showed. Remote access is also red now and says I need to sign in to access my server from anywhere but if I click “sign in” it just takes me to the General settings tab to where the “Claim Server” isn’t working…

Please stop plex.

Using Filestation, navigate PlexMediaServer/AppData/Plex Media Server

right-click Logs → Compress to Logs.zip

Your Synology lost connectivity to the internet (DNS lookup)

  1. Restart DSM
  2. Check your settings

Curl error 6 = DNS lookup failure.

I’m not sure what happened or when but my Gateway got set to .1.254. Got that fixed up and we are back in business.
