Plex Media Server keeps crashing

Got it.

The Unique constraint is probably because people have started watching those videos.

I wouldn’t worry about it. There will be some loss here as long as it’s only those few, is that ok?

Sure is… run it?

Make like the bear & smoke it

Yes sir.

Adjust for maximum :fire:

Partial success… watch status looks like it took, but my “continue watching” is from the test server.

ie, very empty

And a movie, that was in the middle of playing on original server, cannot be marked “played” or “unplayed” - it’s stuck as showing half way thru.

Are you saying to this for the movie i have stuck?

All the other effects make sense.

Optimize didn’t work, I guess i have some new problems to start working on tomorrow.

Thank you for the help.

I have a theory as to what’s happening and why.

How much of the library was created / ingested prior to Engineering updating the scanners & agents ?

I ask because,

  1. If originally matched with the old agent
  2. Now matched with the new agent
  3. The data brought forward from the old DB won’t have a place to attach.
  4. The lists will contain less (or empty). Some items won’t be marked as played.

If this is the case, you can swap the whole database back & forth to take notes then go back to the new database and manually mark them.

Yes, it’s annoying but I think we’ve found the root problem – corruption deep in the DB somewhere that PMS nor SQLite could detect but was enough to be fatal. These type failures are rare.

@ChuckPa @trumpy81

I’m not sure starting from scratch on the view states is a good idea, at least from my perspective.
I’d have to deal with my father, who’s old, grumbling at me about what TV shows he’s already watched… or did he?

Yes, I can find the last episode I watched, and toggle it “unplayed” then “played” and it shows the next episode in “continue watching” - no issues there, it’s a fair trade for hopefully fixing everything else.

I’m more concerned right now with the stuck movie. Setting it to “Played” or “Unplayed” has no effect. Neither does “Remove from Continue Watching”, it’s still there.

I imagine that my other users will have the same issue.

Plex Dance was a bust.

It came right back, at the same play state.

Off to bed.

Question. What if i start a new server, and don’t add the libraries until after I do the database copy from above?
