Plex Media Server keeps showing 'Finish Setup' every time I start the web interface

Server Version#: Headless Ubuntu server 20.04 LTS
Player Version#: Chrome Version 109.0.5414.75 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Ever since the last update, every time I open the plex browser interface, and choose a user, it keeps showing “Finish Setup” and shows a lot of checked categories that are pinned already, no matter which user is selected, this also happens with the Plex app on my Samsung smart TV, open the app, select a user, and bam! “Finish Setup”, but the Plex Media Player for windows shows the same thing but it’s slightly different, the media player shows “customize your media” with a whole bunch of checked categories that are already pinned, even if I clicked ‘Continue’, then later restart the app again, it goes back to 'Customize media".

This never happened in older versions of the server software, I say it’s the server software, because both the app and the web interface actually gets their information from the server software.

Please do the following:

  1. Restart PMS
  2. Wait 3 minutes – letting it sit completely idle
  3. Stop PMS
  4. Make a tar.gz of “/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Logs”
  5. Upload that tar.gz here

Just in case it’s mentioned, you’ll notice through the logs, that uPnP does not work (being that my cable modem/router does not support uPnP), and remote access failed, but for some reason, access outside the LAN does work, even though the server shows ‘No access from outside the LAN’, I did try it on a public WiFi across town and I can access my server with no problems via plex.tv, anyway that isn’t the problem though.

Thanks for the logs.

I wanted to confirm everything was ok with the server ; which it is.

With the “Finish Setup”, that happens if you don’t set a Preferred / Default server
-or-
All cookies/tokens are cleared (Plex/web) after you close the browser
(Incognito mode will do it every time)

Is that what’s happening?

I checked my browser settings, and the ‘Clear browsing history when exiting Chrome’ is disabled, and when I open plex.tv and click on ‘Open Plex’, then it shows the ‘Finish setup’ and I then click on the padlock, which shows 7 cookies in use. App.plex.tv uses 4 cookies and plex.tv uses 3 cookies.

I also tried access using Firefox, Opera and MSEdge, I still get the same ‘Finish Setup’, this must be from PMS software, not the browser, being that the browser gets all it’s information from the server.
