Oh? Were this a Synology box, I would immediately have you double check the plex user has permission to access the specific shares. Synology is famous at forgetting. What happens is some of the library works while other parts don’t. They use ACLs and not real Linux permissions. If you get into the NAS, set file permissions at the Linux level, the whole problem is gone forever.
Yes, it is a Synology.
So I am clear, You assert a Library friendly name of ‘This-Library-Section’ does not work where ‘ThisLibrarySection’ does work or do you mean this as it relates to the directory name used on the NAS?
Yes, you understood it correctly.
I have only used the Synology-tools so set my partition where I have all my media as a shared folder, never tried the Linux command line way.
I’m not a technical person at all but did what I could to understand and do the tests what you mentioned. Not sure if I did it right but I’ve attached the info. So how did this happen anyways? I certainly did not mess/change with any settings on my end. PMS was working fine then suddenly it wasn’t. I can’t even delete a library.
So I tried it again - deleted PMS completely. Ejected my hard drives. Downloaded PMS again and lo and behold my entire library was there (even tho I had not re-connected my hard drives). Still with the same issues.
Ok so good news for anyone facing the same problems as I did. Turns out that on iOS (not sure about Windows or any other operating system) simply deleting PMS from the Applications folder is not enough. You’ll need to go into Library and delete everything PLEX (PMS folder under Application Support) there as well to completely get rid of it. Once this is done, clear your trash, then download the latest version of PLEX and then start adding your libraries to it again.
For the last 30 days or so, plex would not “see” the new files in some of the folders. It sees them in others, but not all. If i move the folder to another drive… then it sees them again. I can move it to the original location, and it will see them again. but just scanning the library does not show them in there. This is happening to about 1% of the folders, but its very annoying.
I ran into this recently and was able to fix it by editing the library and re-aiming the folder path.
I’m using a QNAP TS-469L, and I had recently disabled the Logitech media server.
Everything went nuts on some, but not all PMS libraries. The libraries which were misbehaving were the default folders (TV/Movie) which were preset with the Logitech server in their media path. Changing this to a more manageable direct file path resolved my issue.
Hi, i just had the same issues and resolved by editing the library and adding a new folder to same library. That seems to make Plex review all the existing foldering properly and discovered all the missing items straight away. Then i removed the additonal folder from the library and all good.
Cheers
