Plex Media Server not working

Server Version#:1.19.4.2935
Player Version#:
Hello, I downloaded plex sever and logged into my Google Account. When I click on the icon in the icon in the taskbar it brings up a crome window with the image. How can I not have access to my own server that is on the same computer?

Could be a number of reasons.

  • First (as you specifically mention it)… did you sign in with your Google Account before or did this issue only happen after you switched to signing in via Google?
  • Does it make a difference if you connect to Plex locally or through the hosted web app (http://127.0.0.1:32400/web vs. http://app.plex.tv/desktop)?

As far as I know the Google account is described as an admin and is the only account ive used. And the plex app works but not the plex media server

what other Plex Media Server do you mean?

I didn’t mention any other server?

the server must be logged in (to plex) separately, than from each client.

there is an outage currently going on right now, but …

make sure the server is logged in

open a chrome incognito browser, navigate to the IP of your local server, ie @ http://192.168.1.xxx:32400/web/

go to settings > general > make sure the server is signed in, and to the correct account.

note: unfortunately you will have to wait until api server outage is fixed before you can do any login

https://status.plex.tv/

another note, you must sign the server in, from the local network.

if for some reason your ‘server’ is ‘on the internet’ separate from your home network, then you will need to connect somehow to the same server ip and log in from there, like VPN or remote desktop or ssh redirect.
