Plex media server on Nvidia Shield no longer accessible

Server Version#: Can’t access it anymore but last update as of December 26 2021
Player Version#: last update as of December 26 2021

Hi,

Today, from the Plex app on the Shield I accessed the settings of Plex Media Server to switch it off prior to access the external drive that is plugged to the Shield, on which the server is running. I accessed the drive with a PC. I do that often without any issue. When the drive is re-connected to the shield, I open the Plex app to go in settings to switch back on my server, as I usually do. But…

The Plex Media Server option line is now empty in Plex settings. I can see the text “Plex Media Server” but not anymore the circle on which I had to click to activate or not the server.

I cannot acces my server neither from the shield nor a web browser on my PC.

I have rebooted the shield, deleted Plex app cache, Plex app data, Plex Media Server cache, but always the same issue.

I’d like to avoid to uninstall/reinstall PMS.

Any help is welcome!

Thanks!

I uninstalled plex media server and re-installed it from scratch.
Moved the new server to the external driver.
Switched off the server from plex settings.
Unplugged the external drive.
Restored my backup as I seriously cannot start again my library from scratch (some covers are changed, some tags are added. This backup restore step was very long!
Plug the external drive and wait for a bit.
Open plex and go in settings to switch on the server, and…

The server is still inaccessible, the line is empty in the settings!!!

Please, help!

I though this might be due to a corrupt file in my last version of backup hence decided to do a new install and restore an older backup. In doing so, I found that the problem was not due at all to my library as it is reproducible on a new, totally virgin install, see details here: Plex Media Server does not work anymore, even on new install.

Hence, there is a much broader issue on Plex and Nvidia Shield that prevent Plex Media Server to work.
