Plex Media Server option missing on the Plex app through Samsung Smart TV app (Samsung S95b)

I’m setting up my mom’s new Samsung Smart TV (SN95b). I successfully downloaded the Plex app and can see available programs. What I cannot see is the option to connect to a Media Server. I have a Media Server that I have shared with her, but I don’t see an option to connect to it. A couple options I may try as a workaround:

  1. Have mom use the Roku Channel app, then access Plex
  2. Have mom either cast her iPad or connect an HDMI cable to the TV. When she uses her iPad, she uses a the web-based Plex login.

Maybe there’s a limitation with the Plex app on the Samsung Smart TV?

Post Withdrawn, didn’t see the ‘new’ part and posted about old Smart TV’s getting sunsetted.

Hello, CWallace. Are you familiar with this issue? I don’t see a way to connect to a Media Server. I’m trying to set this up on my mom’s new Samsung SN95b Smart TV. I installed the Plex app, and I see the basic programs and movies. I now want to her to have access to my movies on my Plex Media Server. She has access using her iPad, so there must be a limitation with the Plex app I downloaded to the TV?

Not familiar with Plex on the Samsungs but the first thing I’d try is logging out of the app, then logging back in with her account. It should see the same things that the iPad does since they’d be on the same account.

Then I’d check the side bar to see if you need to ‘pin’ libraries to the side bar. Go to the sidebar and select “More”. This should show all the sources available to her account. Then you can pin libraries to the sidebar.

Good luck,

Chris
