Plex Media Server - Remote Access not working?

Server Version#: 1.18.0.1944

  • Attempting to configure Remote Access for Plex media server.
  • Connection from internet to Public IP goes green on initial config, but then fails within a few seconds. Connection between Private and Public remains green.
  • Occasionally Plex sets Remote Access to disabled by itself?
  • Specified Public Port 65535 within Plex.
  • Private IP Reserved at router.
  • Router Linksys WRT 32X has Port Forward of 65535 to Private IP (local Windows 10 x64 machine).
  • UPnP is enabled on router.
  • DMZ and respond to WAN pings are disabled.
  • DNS is currently set to Open DNS, tried Google and ISP (default).
  • Connection to Router is hardwired.
  • Modem is cable (coax) with no router functionality.
  • CanYouSeeMe cannot see me (lol) Reason: Connection timed out.
  • Router Log: possible DNS-rebind attack detected: {Private IP} {alphabet string followed by numbers}.plex.direct - events coincide with Plex Remote Access enable attempts.
  • Comodo security suite has no impact wether fully enabled (default) or all functions disabled.
  • Windows Firewall port rules opened Inbound/Outbound (also within Comodo)
• Windows Network Profile is Private with all sharing options enabled and Media Server enabled.
  • Everything works fine within the local network…what am I missing???

I don’t know your router but check if you can disable DNS rebinding protection. that could definitely make things not work. That url is for secure connections and the unique certificate every user gets.

You can try also disabling Secure connections in the servers network settings to test if that works.

i would disable DNS rebinding protection over turning off secure connections though.

I’m not a Windows user so not sure about its Firewall or network profile set up

Thanks @BigWheel I looked for the setting but couldn’t seem to find it. However it turns out it is actually working. An IT friend indicated the ISP may be blocking booking something as it looks like a DNS loop (I can’t remember the actual term he used).
