Plex Media server roll back on synology 1019+ (Is there a way)

Server Version#: PlexMediaServer-1.25.0.5282-2edd3c44d-x86_64_DSM6
Player Version#: Version 1.38.0.2734-ec4489fe for windows

Is there any option to do a roll back after upgrading the server?

I would like to downgrade from 1.25.0.5282-2edd3c44d-x86_64_DSM6 back to PlexMediaServer-1.24.4.5081-e362dc1ee-x86_64_DSM6

You can try but it’s unknown what will happen given the database upgrade.

What’s the reason for rolling back?

I am getting a playback error with my, iptv. “I get playback error, this live tv session has ended” It stopped working for me on 1.38.0.2734-ec4489fe for windows application. It does work in the web browser.

If it works in the browser but not your Windows player app

I would not label that as a server problem.

If both failed THEN I would consider it a server problem

May I see the logs please which capture the failure so I can check?

I downloaded the logs, which log should I be looking for?

Post the whole zip file of the server logs.

Is this about the right time?

Dec 02, 2021 13:48:42.030 [0x7fba85262b38] DEBUG - Failed to stream media, client probably disconnected after 2375680 bytes: 104 - Connection reset by peer

I believe so, hasn’t been working since. The stream works fine, just not through plex window app.

It works on every other player except the Windows app?

Correct

Let me check my other plex players, give me a minute.

Then it’s a problem with the Windows app.

Look at the version you have installed.
Next, look at the version you downloaded.

If the downloaded is older, Uninstall the current player and install the older.

Let’s see if it’s a regression in the player.

Stopped working on my Plex Home theater client 1.41.2586-9c9436a2, this is why I don’t like upgrading you never know whats going to happen.

PHT? That’s very likely.

PHT hasn’t been supported in several years now.

Might any of this have to do with the Sept 30th certificate expiration?

I downloaded dev home theater client, a while back. This is the client that was posted here in the forums… No doesn’t have anything to do with cert expiration. All the clients are windows based. Everything worked fine up until the update. Doesn’t explain why it works from the web browser and not the clients.

In a nutshell? They probably bumped the app protocol to beyond what it can handle.

So, do you use the other Plex Windows player or do you stick with the ancient PHT ?

I use the PHT mostly, I am using a newer version I downloaded in the forums.

Stopped: PHT, Plex for windows.
Works: Plex through web browser and Plex on android phone app

Please go here and download the currently supported Plex for Windows app. PHT is a dead piece of software. It hasn’t been supported by Plex in ages.
