Plex Media Server Setup with Synology

Server Version#: 1.20
Player Version#:

Currently I have Plex running on a windows VM. I have a Synology 1019+ with Plex installed. But when I run the application I do not get the option to “setup” the Plex server. It acts like the client software. I just have not been able to find any support as to why this is happening. Can you provide some light into my situation?

I do not get ou will be greated by “Got It” (We found a server). But I am able to login with my plex account and then it will see my original windows plex server. I can manage my windows plex server from the url for my nas.

How can I get the NAS running as it’s OWN plex media server?

First off thank you for replying, I appreciate any help. Ok when I entered the url with IP, I was able to get to the setup, but when I turn off my windows plex server I do not get the setup in plex from the NAS.

Everything else I am fully aware of how to setup, for some reason I just don’t understand why the server setup option isn’t available. Does the initial setup require full internet access? Could this be a firewall issue?

After turning off the plex server in windows, and login to the NAS I only get the following.

Now I maybe getting somewhere. When I login now I am getting the following url
http://x.x.x.x:32400/web/index.html#!/setup/ when I login to Synology and launch Plex from the DSM. But I had to login with a user I created with the same name as my plex account. Now I am not sure why I am getting the following message.

No soup for you!

You do not have access to this server

You only see the setup wizard once, NOT every time you open Plex.

I am aware of this fact. I don’t want to say that I am an expert with Plex, but I have a good idea.

Assuming that SRV-Plex is your server on the PC, then it is no surprise that it is unavailable when you are NOT running that server.

Again this is correct and the expected behavior.

To select the Plex server on your NAS, click on the name of the server and then select the correct server from the drop down menu.

This is not an option because I have YET been able to complete the new server setup on the Synology NAS.

I am following the instructions you provided. Also I am thankful for the help. Here are the logs you requested.

The second NIC is only configured in DSM and not active. I am not doing LACP at the moment or may never. But now I have set the configuration to DHCP even though is still shows disconnected.

When I login now I am getting the following url
http://x.x.x.x:32400/web/index.html#!/setup/ after launching Plex from the DSM. But I had to login with a user I created in DSM with ADMIN and PLEX read/write access. After opening the app and starting plex I get the following message.

That is correct! I am using my plex credentials

10-4, I will work on this now.

How does plex tie the read/write access in DSM to the admin account after login to Plex to link to app.plex.tv? Which account do I login with to run Plex?

That is a very good link. To be clear I have done this many times, but I bonded the port link you said, rebooted my NAS and ESXi server. Followed these steps EXACTLY and got to Starting Plex Media Server for the first time in the instructions. On Step 3 however, i didn’t get Read the introduction and click “ Got It ”.

It is amazing that only one sour tempered person that you better not offend would respond.
