Clicking “Repair” is normally the right thing to do — HOWEVER — Not this time!
DSM 7 changed so much that automatic repair isn’t possible.

To make sure where we’re at,
- Look at your “Plex” shared folder.
- Look in it – down into the Plex Media Server directory
- I expect your metadata will all still be sitting there
Assuming you have it all, proceed below – ELSE come back here for other instructions.
-
Uninstall the DSM 7 package – choose the ERASE option to get rid of the errant server DSM 7 created.
-
Now, with it uninstalled,
-
Go to Plex.tv/downloads (PlexPass)
-
Download the 1.24.2.4973 package for your machine and install it.
-
As you install it, it will bark errors at you With instructions.
-
This is expected and part of how we have to work on DSM 7 when we don’t have “root” username anymore to do it automatically.
I’ve created a long post here, full of details about what happened.
In that thread, I also show you screenshots of what you need to do to “Migrate” your server (fully intact) from DSM 6 → DSM 7.
let me know if you have any questions.
