@ChuckPa
Yep I feel like that
Does this Forum Preview PMS version has some sort of limitations that I should be aware of ? If I don’t lose too much of usability nor features I don’t mind give it a try and be slow on updates.
What I’m wondering too is if further DSM7 updates could break this PMS version again forcing the necessity of the migration process once for all.
Worst case if I need to move to the new structure, will I pick it were I left off or I start from the beginning ? Here where I am right now :
Plex Media Server migration to DSM 7 started: Mon Jul 12 13:42:54 EDT 2021
=== Mon Jul 12 13:42:54 EDT 2021 === Start: Change ownership
=== Sat Jul 17 03:58:10 EDT 2021 === Completed: Change ownership
=== Sat Jul 17 03:58:10 EDT 2021 === Start: Convert symbolic links

@ChuckPa
To complement my post, I use intensively the Plex server to watch my media on an Android TV that has the Plex app installed on it so that ability MUST remain with the Forum Preview PMS version we are discussing of.

I tried to newly install plex media server on dsm7.0-41890, but I encountered a problem. Currently, I use plex version 1.23.5.4862-7000. After I complete the new installation and give the vedio folder permission, open plex and still prompt “unauthorized, you do not have permission to access this server”

感谢回复,我目前按照您提供的方法进行了尝试,但是很遗憾问题依旧,我目前使用的主机是DS920+,这次我指定了日志文件的路径。下属附件供您分析。

Thank you for your reply. I have tried according to the method you provided, but unfortunately the problem remains. My current host is ds920 +, and this time I specified the path of the log file. Subordinate attachments for your analysis
When this is released as the normal distribution package,
upgrading from DSM 6 to DSM 7 will still require you set the permissions in the Plex shared folder for it to “migrate”.
Once it starts that process, the package will do the rest.
Everyone testing here has already upgraded from 6 → 7.
What’s happening now is relocating (undoing) the awkwardness from what was initially done to this configuration which is a lot more what everyone wants & needs.
When you upgrade, your metadata will move from the Plex shared folder → PlexMediaServer shared folder in one step.
I sincerely apogolise if I have posted the wrong area. Please let me know if i did and direct me to the correct location.
I have followed the instruction for DSM 7 Plex installation, but when i access to my server, it is showing me a message “Not authorized, You do not have access to this server”.
I have given access to “PlexMediaServer” in the system internal user with Customised full control.
Hi, I’m running plex version 1.23.6.4881-7000 on Synology 1019+ with DSM 7.0-41890. I’ve installed plex, claimed server restarted my synology device multiple times. Everytime i start plex, it just stops by itself after a few seconds. I can’t get it to keep running
Need some help. Plex Beta is not letting me change the Volume from the default - Volume 1. Keeps kicking the installation out because it is detecting my Plex Share on Volume 2, but doesn’t let me select volume 2. Any idea on how to fix this issue?
The destination volume, where it will be installed (volume1), isn’t the same as where your existing PMS install (volume 2) is.
In order to keep existing PMS data, it all must be on the same volume. (( Theoretically it could be made to allow it but for most users that would mean 14-16 days to complete installation – which has been seen already in a few cases of 500 GB metadata libraries)).
The PMS which you downloaded from plex.tv/downloads does not have the capability of understanding multiple-volume installations – and – be visible for making backups.
After DSM 7.0-41890 stabilized and became final, I was able to figure out a way to:
a. Make the metadata visible again
b. Allow you to move the new shared folder “PlexMediaServer” wherever you want.
My recommendation:
Install as you are now and finish installing to Volume 2
When complete, consider upgrading to the new installation packaging I have in Forum Preview and will be the default very soon.

Hi, I updated my DS218+ to DSM 7.0-41890, next i unistalled PSM deleting ALL files, deleted the Plex shared folder and user Plex and finally installed PSM 1.23.6.4881-7000 manually. I added to one shard folder the authorization to write/read to PlexMediaServer. Now when i access my server myip:32400/web/ it seems it cannot see the server and cannot create any library, it says to istall a PSM but I have it already! It’s very confusing.
Care to jump to the new packaging? I think you’ll like it. It more closely resembles the old DSM 6 structures but lives within the constraints of DSM 7.
