Plex Media Server (Version 1.16.5.1554) keeps disabling Remote Access to my Server

Hi All…

New here to these forums, and so I apologize if this is has been asked or brought up yet, but I recently updated to PMS v1.16.5.1554 and I have noticed that whenever I try to watch something on my MS from outside my network I get errors saying that my server is not reachable. When I log into my MS and I look, I see that Remote Access has is not available outside of my network, even though it is enabled. If I click disable remote access and then immediately click on enable remote access I get the green check mark and a message saying that Remote access is enabled but then about 20 seconds later it reverts back to it being unavailable outside of my network. I have never once had an issue with my server being available outside of my network and I have a feeling that the last couple of updates borked this feature. Searching through google I came across some older Plex forum topics where people who were on 1.15 were having this issue. Some said rolling back would fix it… while others said that that did not help.

Again, I apologize if this has been addressed, but if there is a stable fix out there for this, please pass it along so that I can correct this issue.

Did remote access work for you in the past?

If not… Remote access is not just about enabling a setting in the Plex Media Server… it’s also about your router capabilities and settings and might even depend on your ISP.
Example: have you enabled UPnP on your router so Plex can open a port automatically or did you manually establish a port forward? With any of those… can you access the public IP / given port from outside your home network? (e.g. using a service like canyouseeme.org)

Yeah, in the past it was working fine… I never had to fwd any ports in my router for it to stay active.

I did however just fwd port 32400 in my router and I logged out of my PMS and back into it and it “seems” as though the Remote access is holding for now… I am going to continue to monitor it and see if it craps out again.
