Plex Media Server wants to change "Kelly" to "R. Kelly"

So I’m new to Plex and really excited that it might be the solution to my goal of being to watch/listen to my digital media pretty much anywhere.

I don’t have many things in my library yet (due to time constraints on my end) but one artist is being erroneously changed by the Plex Media Server.

The artist: Kelly
The album: Shoes (released 2006-06-21)

PMS is changing the artist to “R. Kelly”, and that is an artist I do not have ANYWHERE in my collection.

I have confirmed that the original MP3 tags ONLY show “Kelly” as the artist.

I have updated the PMS to the latest version, edited the album within PMS, changed the artist from “R. Kelly” to “Kelly”, saved the changes, and PMS changes it back to “R. Kelly”

Tried adding a space after the artist name but that had no effect.

Anyone else having the same problem with this or other artists? Is there a fix or possibly something I should be doing to get around this problem?

Try ‘Fix Match’ on the artist.

I tried that shortly after I posted the problem (trying everything I could think of) and unfortunately it was not working.

What I did find that worked was this:

I realized I was trying to edit information in the Home screen under Recently Added Music. What I tried was bringing up the list of artists and editing the information from THAT screen. I changed everything I could, saved the changes – and it worked just fine.
