Plex Metadata Issue Raspberry Pi 4

Over the past couple of days, Plex on the Raspberry Pi 4 is no longer obtaining metadata for movies. As I am in the testing phase at the moment and only using a handful of different movies, I haven’t tried any other media (music or TV shows).

I don’t know if there was a recent update to Plex for the Raspberry Pi as I wasn’t having any issues getting metadata on my RPI until just this week.

The scanner is Plex Movie and the
Agent is Plex Movie.

But it still does not retrieve any metadata. No movie info, no poster art, no nothing.

Any suggestions as to what might be happening?

Post your logs?

Usually when nothing works at all it ends up being a DNS issue or something blocking like a firewall or misconfigured hosts file.

Thank you for the replies!

Being a noobie with Raspberry Pi and any Linux OS… where can I find the logs in the RPI OS?

As far as DNS goes… it was working fine on the RPI until just this week. Nothing has changed on the DNS side.

your ISP could have changed something. not saying they did. There will be a logs folder in the Plex Media Server data folder

https://support.plex.tv/articles/202915258-where-is-the-plex-media-server-data-directory-located/

Plex Tuner Service.log (2.1 KB)
Plex Media Server.log (840.3 KB)
Plex Media Scanner Matcher.log (4.7 KB)
Plex Media Scanner Matcher.1.log (5.7 KB)
Plex Media Scanner Analysis.log (21.8 KB)

Hope these help!

What are you using for the Agent and Scanner? Im not seeing anything obvious in the logs.

The scanner and the agent are both Plex Movies.

A side note that this being a test server with the hopes of becoming my permanent server. I do have a Plex server that has been my permanent server for years now running Windows Server 2012. But wanting to scale it down immensely to a raspberry pi. But now I’m having this issue with the Pi.

In testing the Pi, I’ve rebuilt the Pi OS numerous times in the past few weeks to get it where I wanted. Now I’ve stumbled upon this issue when this wasn’t an issue last week and beyond. Obviously I do not have this problem with my Windows plex server.

May I request a full ZIP (or tar.gz) of the Logs directory – captured after attempting to scan files & Refresh the metadata ?

The singular files presented here do not contain sufficient information.

I started on this early Thursday morning and was having problems with it gathering metadata all day long. So I ended up rebuilding Plex a couple of times throughout the day, only to have the same result. So since the last time I built the Plex server on this raspberry pi again I just only added the one movie.

Now earlier in the day on Thursday I did add a television show episode that it was able to get metadata from Plex but not the art or the DVD cover if you will. But it will not do anything for movies. Just remember I only have one movie on this test Plex server. Then once I was able to get the metadata working again then I was going to start adding additional movies for additional testing.

But I can send you the log files from the raspberry pi but I’m just giving you a heads up that there may or may not be anything additional in there because there’s only one movie that I’ve added to the server.

It won’t let me upload compressed files here in the forum. Any other suggestions.
