My plex media server instance is recently (see context in the next paragraphs) failing to find or display movie or tv posters. Everything else works well but no posters (some of the tv seasons have thumbnails of a frame of the episode but those show only on the season page). I’ve tried refreshing all metadata, rescanning library files and analyzing without any effect. I’ve also tried fixing specific matches with the “Fix Match” tool which even has animations that seem to suggest it worked but the poster doesn’t show up. For some background I’ve been running a plex media server on a Raspberry Pi (here’s the result of uname -a : Linux pirex 4.19.75-v7l+ #1270 SMP Tue Sep 24 18:51:41 BST 2019 armv7l GNU/Linux ) for half a year without seeing this issue. Recently I was running into space limitations on the internal drive so I tried to move the metadata directory to an external drive via this guide. That drive already stored the movies and tv libraries, set up with this guide. I say tried because I failed so spectacularly that I ended deciding to wipe all traces of plex media server from the pi and reinstall. After doing so I set up a new server storing its metadata on the external as originally planned. Initially I had some intermittent issues with a zombie server showing up in my server list but that has gone away and now the only issue is the posters.
