I have “Plex Pass”, and the latest Plex version on my windows 10 HT but do not see the “Mix or Mood” selection. What is that I’m missing? Thx!
Moods are available on the Tags tab of your audio tracks…

You should be able to initiate a Plex mix via the “…” context menu of the same song level – however Plex Mix is possibly not available to every song.

Both features are only available to Premium Music Libraries… if you got music libraries before getting your Plex Pass, you might need to create this library anew.
I did just that. I deleted my Music library and recreated it with Plex Pass Premium. Still no “Mix”.
The mix will only get available after the whole library has been scanned and processed completely.
That can take a very long time (hours), depending on the amount of artists and albums you have in your collection.
I have 272 albums, I guess I’ll wait and see.
Is there any way to retain ratings from the old library when creating the new one? I literally just spent the last six months rating over 6,000 songs in my old library and want the mood mix feature, but don’t want to lose all the ratings.
Thanks.
There is no need to create a new library. Existing Premium libraries are going to be converted to whatever the new metadata solution will be.
On another post:
The new EPG provider is Rovi? Can you confirm this or do you know as to when the new music provider will be available to Plex customers? Right now, it’s just Last.FM.
no one is going to tell you any specific date or timeframe, plex simply does not provide that ahead of time.
they will release it when they have it ready.
that said, it seems pretty apparent that since plex has recently become a support for musicbrainz, that it will most likely take advantage of their metadata services.
Otto,
Then how do I enable mood mix playing on my old library?
The only thing that changed is now I see an option for ‘sync’ in the top right and a ‘lyrics’ button on the bottom right.
Currently, not at all.
Mood mix was a Gracenote feature. Until a replacement is ready, you can use the other automated mixes Library Radio, Artist Radio etc.
Oh…
Is there a replacement in the works? If so, any timeline on that?
I was really looking forward to that feature with Plex Pass.
Obviously Plex won’t mention any specific date or timeframe for new features and they will release it when it’s ready. However, it is one of several major features Plex Pass subscribers pay for. To not having it is misleading by Plex.
FYI - They promote this on their official page for Plex Pass:
https://www.plex.tv/plex-pass/
A coming soon feature would do for now until they have it altogether.
sure documentation and marketing materials should be updated in the mean time.
but it doesn’t look like this was something that was thoroughly planned, more of a reaction to an unplanned event or situation (loss of gracenote) and they are scrambling to adapt.
hopefully this will help prioritize some of the long standing issues (mixes/playlists/id3tags/etc) with music and plex while they are retooling.
One can only hope. It’s just a huge disappointment because Plex Pass is a revenue stream for them. Premium music is a major part of that. By not having this, you’re in a lot of ways cheating the paying customer out of something that they are paying for each month, some did for a lifetime such as myself, but we are providing revenue to keep the business a float aside venture capital firms helping as well. There are a host of other features with Plex Pass, premium music is a huge part of the service.
As someone who just purchased a lifetime pass a few days ago for these specific features, continuing to advertise features you do not have is probably doing more harm than good.
They’ve gotten rid of (editable) track moods altogether! (No Longer Able to Edit Track Moods, where you can read why this doesn’t make sense) This is hugely disappointing, as this was a substitute for their lack of sharable playlists (Share Playlists). I’m also a Plex pass holder, and this is a main reason I went with Plex rather than another player.
