Plex movie agent not matching any new movies

Server Version#: 1.21.1.3876
Player Version#: 4.49.2
Running in a linuxserver docker container

I finally switched to the new plex movie agent for my movie library, and then kicked off a metadata refresh about a week ago. Everything went well, no issues.

However, over the last few days, I noticed that none of the new movies I add are matched by plex. Library scan detects the movies, but only shows local asset info and a screenshot as the thumb image.

When I click on the menu (3 dots), I indeed get the match option so they are not matched at all.

When I try the match, it does show me some options to pick from and when I do pick one, it retrieves the metadata just fine.

I also noticed that, during matching, if I select auto match and select the plex movie agent, it keeps telling me No matches were found using this agent. Picking any other agent results in successful matching.

It seems the plex movie agent completely stopped working for me and I can only do a manual match using results from other agents.

Any ideas?

PS. I tried the same steps on a separate backup server and see the same behavior. No auto match with the plex movie agent.

Thanks

For the last week or so I have had the exact same problem.

Good to hear it wasn’t just me. By the way, I added two new movies today and plex matched them automatically. Ironically, I was trying to get logs this time. Oh well, hopefully this was a plex connection issue of some sort that is perhaps now fixed.

I’ll watch it over the next few days.

I am having the same problem.

Plex handles the year in the filename as if it is part of the title and cannot match movies. It is very annoying.

The Devs probably changed something in the media scanner code to treat all numbers in the file names as numbers in the title instead of the year.

You can match them manually if you remove the year from the title and add it in the date field.

Please fix this, so annoying!

Can you share some examples of your filenames? I’m not having this problem.

Same issues as everyone above.

It’s not you. I’m having the same issue with a docker local server, a remote docker server, and 2 bare metal servers and movies do not match up at all. TV works fine, but tons of the movies are missed and it matches up some of the wrong crap and years. Something has def happened.

All movies with the date not in parentheses ( ) are not matched.

I don’t know if that used to be the case or not but I never had so many unmatched movies at once. Maybe 5-10% of movies in the past instead of 90% now.

Can anyone have this issue please provide some logs.

I have the same probleme, running plex on a docker on rasberry (using lsioarmhf/plex image). It find some artiste but only a small part, my previous server was running directly on rasberry and I had no problems.

I sent my server logs to @drzoidberg33 but I’m not sure if he’s had a chance to look at them yet as I didn’t hear back, and the issues are still there.

I’m having the same problem

I switched back to the legacy one and now everything matches again. With the new scanner only about 1 out of 10 movies matched.

The new scanner will not always immediately match the right meta.
After some tests I’ve noticed that you’ll first have to wait a while (hour??) and it may do it automatically. If not then try refreshing the meta data for all movies this also worked.

In other words you need to take some steps for it to work properly.

You’re running a very old version of PMS which doesn’t have the new Plex Movie agent so your issue is unrelated to this. I suggest you update as it becomes a security risk running out of date software.

Thanks I did look at them but couldn’t find anything conclusive to go off. We are tracking an issue that results in some requests for matching and metadata that just fail for some reason and it may be related. This would result in things intermittently not matching but wouldn’t result in it never matching.

Please consider including logs when reporting issues, I cannot determine if any of these issues are related otherwise.

You want to ideally grab the logs after you’ve seen a failed match.
